HW/Weihrauch My next HW is finally here! Jump to end.

Thanks everyone. The construction guys cleared out for the day. I put the Tech Sight on it and chronographed it with 8.44 JSBs at 11.2 fpe. Extreme spread under ten on ten shots. David Slade did a good job on this. I'll probably put it away cocked to see if it softens up.

It took a bit to get it on paper. The site was sunk to the bottom and it was still shooting low where it's at now. I don't want it up so high so I'll see if the fiber optic sight is lower and zeros properly. If that don't work, there's always the Weihrauchs cheapo fixed front sight. That one I know is shorter.

Not to hijack your thread but I replaced the rear sight on a Ruger rifle (Series 195-xxxxxxxxx) that will not be mentioned here with the Tech Sight.
Wow what a difference.
When I put the sight one I lowered it to it’s lowest point and filed off the front sight to zero the rifle dead-on at 25 yards.
Everyone who shoots the rifle is impressed.

Cool! I love these Tech sights. Much better than standard irons or buckhorns. There's a reason why most infantry rifles came with similar simple peep sights. The 0.062" diopter is the perfect size for me. I used to use the Williams but the 0.050" was too small in dim conditions and the 0.094" not sharp enough for my eyes.

I put a simple skinner peep on my deer rifle and its much more accurate than the fiber optic buck horns that came on the gun.

An option for the Tech Sight is this aperture set with an alternate post, which accepts one of three small snap-in flexible disks with different opening sizes. As you can see, I needn't have bothered as I ended up using the the same 0.062" as the out-of-the-box post!

But the smaller or larger one might prove useful for different guns, mounting positions, lighting conditions, or sets of eyeballs. FWIW, the 0.042" opening is about what's used in most dedicated 10-meter diopter eye disks.

Cool. Thanks for the picture. I knew they existed but I've never needed anything but 0.062" so I never looked further into it.

Be well
Mike.
Hey feel like dragging my R1 to the NC show? When is that? It's coming up?

Here's the llnk to Tony McDaniel's show in Hickory, NC - just two weeks away - October 10 / 11! Would be great if you could make it (and the rest of you guys, too, LOL).

It's a great show! Lots of vendors; emphasis more on vintage stuff but always a few new-gun vendors, too. Tony is a great host - very relaxed atmosphere, bunch of door prizes, and a most friendly crowd. The venue is on the fairgrounds with a huge field out one end of the building, making it the only show I know of where you can shoot prospective purchases to your heart's content. It's a two-day show too - opens to the public Friday AM and ends Saturday PM.

Two weeks ago I agreed to buy a lightly used and tuned 177 Hw50. I've wanted one for a while to lower the power and put peep sights on. Thanks to USPS only 13 short days later my check finally arrived in the state next door. USPS has been friggin terrible lately. I could have hand delivered the envelope crawling on my belly quicker. In any event, I'm more excited about setting up this rifle than any in recent history. It's perfect timing too. My shop is going up and it's my 60th birthday.

Notice Dodge (my dog) has claimed the shop as his already. Thanks for letting me share my excitement.

Be well all,
Ron

Nice looking rifle! Congratulations on the new shop and Happy Birthday!
