Official 2025 Pyramyd AIR Cup thread!

“Y’all” is a contraction of “you all.”

It’s widely used in Southern American English and has spread well beyond the South in casual speech. Here’s what to know:
  • Meaning – It’s a second-person plural pronoun. It addresses more than one person (like “you guys,” “you lot,” or “you all”). Example: “Are y’all ready to go?”
    • Occasionally, speakers use it to address a single person in a friendly or emphatic way, but its core meaning is plural.
  • Grammar – It behaves like a pronoun. The possessive form is y’all’s or yalls (e.g., “Is this y’all’s car?”).
  • Register – Informal and friendly. It’s common in speech, text messages, and social media, and increasingly accepted in casual writing.
  • Origin – Early 1800s U.S., blending the word “you” with “all” for clarity and smoothness of speech. It fills a gap in Standard English, which uses “you” for both singular and plural.

In short, y’all is simply an efficient, natural-sounding way to say “you (plural)”—and that’s why it’s become popular far beyond its Southern roots.

Maybe when team Centercut puts on an event, we can then play by yalls rules. :) At that point your input and opinions WILL matter.
I just want to play by the rules given dude.

In competition rules, if the wording is only “mass produced,” it usually focuses on availability and consistency, not on whether the maker earns a profit. So an item could meet a “mass produced” requirement even if it’s sold at cost or simply distributed, as long as it is produced in quantity and available to others in a consistent, standardized way.

I'll let Caleb or Derrick explain it to ya, they're both familiar with the term. If I'd said "do yall want some FREE Russian pellets, you'd certainly be able to comprehende that.
Hell yeah. I could then say they were commercially available. Great idea.

Did you mean comprende or entiende? Or is the “h” included in Spanglish?

I say he is legal with seeing this video. Too bad politics keep our US market out of his reach. Hopefully things will eventually change in that arena. Regardless, any protest needs to be made at the event while it’s happening. This after the fact back and forth between folks who weren't even entered in the contest, (me included) is irrelevant at this point.
I can say what I want to and when I want to. It’s called free speech 🎤

In order to make these event fair in the future, I will talk about now what I see as unfair. Maybe just maybe they can be fair to all in the future. You’re welcome.

Congrats to all who competed and won.

Congrats to Nikolay as well. He is a great shooter. We may need an unlimited class if prototype projectiles will be used or maybe abolish a mass produced rule all together. Anything goes!

Thayne actually won Bench 🥇

Barb is a force in Hunter FT

Wes is the man in Speed

Not sure on the other competitors but good on y’all for stepping in the arena and battling.
The Daystate Wolf Pack was the dominant force in this years PAC.
First in Speed
First in Hunter FT
Tie first in WFTF FT.

Great job to Wes, Barb, and Lauren!!!

I'm relatively new here but I've been on this planet long enough to recognize professional complainers! What's up with the Team Centercut individuals above? Just for poops and giggles I googled Mass Production. Merriam Webster says - Mass Production is the production of goods in considerable quantities usually by machinery. So why are these dudes getting all bent out of shape?

I'd like to see more pictures from benchrest please.

I'll take a stab at explaining the frustration...

This is the first time someone has successfully and personally created a pellet that is a massive step up in performance. So this is the first time this has become a topic of discussion. And again, kudos to Nikolai for achieving the (previously) impossible.

Most people willing to pay to attend one of the big three (RMAC/PA Cup/EBR) are the type that are dedicating massive amounts of time and preparation to competing in those events. The standard expectation has always been that everyone can choose between the commercially available options for projectiles. Pick your poison, practice up, and go do your best. What just happened though, is the exact description of what the phrase, "moving the goalposts" describes. We now have a situation where only one person has access to the only pellet in the world capable of a BC of 0.092. And as previously pointed out, that's a roughly 30+% increase over the next best pellet BC. Ie, substantial.

The way these things usually play out, with all the politics in the industry, is that Nikolai will make enough of them to supply his fellow team shooters with enough to compete. But it will likely continue to be impossible for anyone else to get them.

OR, we'll get to see if Nikolai's insatiable desire to win, is bigger than any capitalistic tendencies he may or may not have.

Regardless of the conjecture about what might happen in the future, nothing changes the fact that the winner was the only person who had access to the magic pellet that won the most recent PA Cup benchrest competition. And THAT is why I previously said this win for him will forever have an asterisk for those of us that follow competition results.

And ya know how many competitors made it a point to come to me and protest the pellets he was using during the event?....0! And after his finals scores were announced and the dust was settled, to my knowledge and from what I saw, he received nothing but congratulations from his fellow competitors.
As a competitor in this competition - the rules have to matter. Had I been aware of this situation, I would like to think I would have the courage to protest a well liked professional competitor - because the rules have to matter. Like if someone cross shot an empty target not being shot at by another competitor - because he was not present at match time - he should still have the honesty to fess up and take the DQ. <whistling inconspicuously>

Shooting pellets only available to you is clearly outside the spirit of the rules and creates an uneven playing field.

It is the nature of things that these rule "encroachments" come to light after the fact because the guilty parties don't walk around telling people that the are testing the limits of the rules.

I am satisfied with Tyler's response and efforts to clarify the rules further. The match is over, what is done is done, we have to move forward toward making things better in the future . - I will be at the PA Cup next year because it is well run, competitive, and fun!

Hats off to the Pyramid crew that did all the work for US.

I to congratulate all competitors that finished in the top ten sponsored or not, a lot of great shooters attended. But I personally was rooting for the unsponsored shooters that invested their own time and money without the support of factories or distributors/dealers, we all know that a relationship between manufacturers and distributors etc. make for a very hard combination to compete against! Many of us do not have the resources or the time that these combinations provide, like someone working for these conglomerates to hand test several barrels and choose the perfect barrel/ pellet/tune combo. “This is just one example of the advantage this provides including spare parts and technicians to replace or utilize for repairs”while the actual competitor is off at work or spending time with their families!. Allowing them to concentrate on practicing only.

I personally saw and overheard many Daystate and scout shooters and a RAW shooter talking about the custom barrel manufacturer they used for their rifles! (Not naming manufacturer but you can easily see the spiral fluting on outside of barrel!) so obviously testing was done and the OEM barrel wasn’t up to their standards!
I know I will take a beating for this and some of my comments take away from this competition but had to get it off my chest!.

I understand what you're saying but the whole Mass Production rule doesn't say that the pellets must be available globally. How do we know that other shooters in Russia aren't using them and that sanctions aren't blocking exportation? And how many pellets does it take to qualify as Mass Production and how does anyone prove it?

Does the Mass Production rule apply to airguns and all other equipment?

His score was 1.3% higher then second place. How does that constitute a "magic" pellet was the reason he won.

Wonder had he not had a 30% better BC advantage what may have been the outcome.

“Oh, tuck those thoughts away, Derrick. Accept what you’re told” 👍🏻 Got it!
