HW/Weihrauch New HW98 on the way

Been looking at these for years. Finally decided with the recent price increases, it is now or never. I don't see them gettin cheaper anytime soon. I himmed and hawed for a couple weeks trying to decide. AOA has a few .20s, and Pyramid has .22's. Finally went with the .22 from Pyramid, I have a few pellets for that caliber already. I sold my stash of .20 pellets in a moment of weakness about a year ago. I have a few scopes lying around, but probably start with the basic UTG 4-16.

please check, I don't know but will the scope you mentioned handle the recoil of the HW?
I do like several of the HW but well I prefer open sights and as far as I know that is not a option.. other than that good HW 45..

All 30mm UTGs are springer rated. Have been for years.

Congratulations, I did the same. I had been looking at a .20 cal 77 since the late eighties early nineties, finaly pulled the trigger on a 97 during this Air Gun Nation renaissance. 😁
I mounted an Element Helix on it.

My 97 was tuned by Motorhead and has a now obsolete Leupold 6.5-20efr scope on it. It shows some wear from dragging it through the woods at field target shoots, but it will never leave.

Yes, I bought an HW50 because I smell big price increases coming too. Scopewise, your HW98 is a really top tier rifle. Why not put a better scope on it rather than the UTG? I suggest an Optisan CP in either SFP or FFP, or a GPO Centuri. Beautiful, short and lightweight with excellent optics, and airgun rated. Trenier Aiguns has the Optisans in stock.

I will start searching for another leupold.

Congrats on the 98. I had an attraction to them for years. When I found an older one in 20. cal for a reasonable price I jumped on it. I shoot it only occasionally but I'm still happy to own it. I'm sure you'll love yours.

I wish you years of luck with it. Congrats!

Congratulations on the new rifle. The HW98 is a great rifle in 22, very accurate. I purchased mine from Krale when they had them on sale before the covid nonsense.

The stippling is in all the right places with perfect balance. Mine likes the H&N FTT's 5.53 or 5.54s the most but is not pellet picky. I placed an Optisan CP 3-12X32 with BKL 30 MM rings on mine. I put a Vortek kit and seal in mine and it's running a little hot at 16 fpe. Shoots very flat from 30 to 80 yards. Less than two tins of pellets through mine. Too many rifles and not enough time to shoot them.

I will see how it shoots first, but will probably put a tune in it. I like my .177s at 12 ft lbs, but can see the advantage of full power in the bigger caliber.

Good idea. They shoot noticeably softer in larger calibers and 12 fpe is pretty loopy in 22.
