I just stumbled on this old photo. I thought it might be helpful to those unfamiliar with Weihrauchs and shopping them.

Top to bottom
R1 (HW80)with 3-9x40 Airmax. 10.4lbs
HW95 with 3-9x40 Airmax, 9.1lbs
HW50 with 4x vantage, 7.2lbs
HW30 with tech sights (peep), 5.8 lbs
HW30 2-7x32 with Vantage, 7.2lbs

They're all relatively the same. They're between 14" and 14 3/8". They're all pretty much vertically in line by the rack on the trigger guards, which are all the same which are attached to all the same trigger. The photo is slightly rotated so the lop looks smaller than it is towards the bottom.

I just measured a Hw30 at 14" and the HW50 at 14 3/8"

Very useful pic! Duly gratuitously copied to my Weihrauch photo file, ha.

FWIW, the pull on even my ancient "skinny" HW 30 is not far off of today's guns, at just a hair under 14". It also manifests that other ancient HW tradition - putting the trigger blade weirdly far from the grip!

That's what makes Weihrauch's LOP feel shorter than it is. Most centerfire and nearly all rimfire rifles sold in the US are shorter than 14"

I know that the ruler does not lie, but the hw30s always feels a lot more compact to me than my other Weihrauchs 🤷‍♂️

That's because it is. The forearm and the whole gun is considerably shorter. It's also considerably lighter so that adds to the small feeling. They're not for everyone.

I just don't like hearing they're kid sized. The LOP and the trigger reach is too long for many kids. I'm 6'4" with long arms and legs like a spider and I'm comfortable shooting my 30s.

I will admit the 50s shoulder and point a little better for me. Hence the 50 on the way.. That one will be set up exactly like the peep sighted 30 in the rack. I'm just gonna knock the power down to make it easier to cock. It's an unnecessary toy but hey I always wanted one.

I had a nice shooting full power 22 Hw50 set up with those sights but it was a little too loopy for me. I was more accurate with my flatter 177 Hw30. My new 177 Hw50 will be flatter than that 30. It should be a hoot. At least that's the plan.

Some earlier R7s had longer barrels and beefier stocks. The scoped rifle is an early R7 sent to me for a tune next to my Hw30. Also notice the Beeman grip is closer to the trigger. That's a nice stock.

I don't consider the HW30/R7 a kids gun either. The Model 25, however, was definitely made with the younger shooter in mind. Here's a comparison pic of the two.

I have an R7 like that one and had not noticed the barrel length or grip diffs, very interesting. I do love shooting the little dude!

I guess Doc B preferred a little more weight out in front. The barrel also went from 14mm on the old HW 30 and first-gen R7 (stamped end cap, no safety) to 15mm on later R7's.

Interesting. I never knew of the 25. That's definitely youth oriented. Oddly enough it still has a long reach to the trigger.
