Hello All, just joined although I've been lurking for a bit now. Thinking of getting a PCP for squirrels. It's a been a long debate that I'm having with myself between getting a 22lr or a PCP. Finally decided on PCP since I'm in CA and it's hard to find non lead bullet for 22lr.

Just looking at the many options for PCP, compressor and even chrono and trying to decide which first PCP to get. Hopefully I'll have one to share soon with y'all.

The $30 speed meter on Amazon is a wonderful thing.
That should be a good compressor, I have the 3.

The gun, well many to chose.

First is what type of shooting will you do the most? Always under 50y guy has different needs than one who wants to shoot 100y.
Looking at shooting around 75 yard max. Hopefully 1 1/2 inch grouping. Something lightweight. Was thinking of avenger x but the more I look into it the more I keep looking at something on the higher end. Going to have to read through a lot of post and come to conclusions on what meets my need.

Welcome, if you are looking for something a little more high end. I've been looking at the air-maks krait for myself. Its extremely lightweight, compact, they come with a huma air regulator and a cz barrel. The standard krait is 24" long, the L is 28" and the x is 35" i believe. The standard weighs around 5.5 lbs.

Several of the locals, myself included, have opted for the FX Archery Chronograph. Perfectly viable for Air Rifles. I've measured over 1150FPS (supersonic) with it. Connects to you phone, talks for each shot measured. Strings stored and shareable. Still only $49.99. MUCH superior to the $30 Chinese chrony (I own 5 so I know).

Thanks! This will save me money and be able to spend more on my PCP and compressor.

Welcome to the best Forum on the web, air gun related or not. As you likely already know, there is a TON of very knowledgeable folks on this Forum.
Light weight, you might look at an FX Crown or Royale in .22 or .25 caliber. Many more choices in pellets/slugs in .22 than .25 BTW. Both are well proven and documented.
Yeah, that FX Archery Chrono from UA is still $50, a sweet deal.

This is exactly my predicament. Debating if I should go all out and buy high end items or dip my toes in it first.
A very good compromise is the Karma EQ. Good price, good adaptability, tons of power and all of the popular calibers of pellets or slugs. Not need to buy a special barrel to shoot slugs.

You could spend 2-3 times the money and get the same basic gun.

welcome, personally I like the FX wildcat MK3 compact. Its a great shooter, very consistent, light in weight with lots of power if you need it. I own and have owned many high high-end air guns and for squirrels this is the one I'd choose. .22 18gr. 885fps with lights out accuracy (.5in @ 50yrs) first shot to last. Mine is the (tube) version and I'm getting 54 shots on a 230b fill on regulator, plenty for a day of hunting. Also easily swap calibers if so desired. Externally adjustable although I haven't touched mine, why mess with perfection :).
