Benjamin P rod and technique

Interested in hearing how owners hold their p rods

I've always kind of wanted one of these but am hesitant because in pics it seems to usually get religated to bench shooting or rigged as a carbine. I have a plethora of short two-handed guns already....& really don't need yet another option.
I have a Prod I use for ratting purposes but it is quite long in pistol form hence I turned mine into a carbine......they do a have a nice trigger! I have now acquired a Notos and prefer to shoot that for rats.

I shoot my PRod as a pistol supported and offhand. The target is offhand at 30ft with a Sig red dot.

Thanx for the replies.

Do you guys think that shooting it palm supported is doable or is it too weight foward?

I see this gun shooting well shooting seated on the ground & tucked. A discrete utility gun kind of like a Talon P maybe? But more refined/ light + mag fed...so still different.

Might have to do

It is a great pistol that is forward heavy when shooting offhand, need to use both hands; I use a pistol scope so I need to push it forward and that causes my forward inbalance problem. I always use it as a pistol and almost always use something to rest it on....I have 3 of them and one is in a stock that makes it a nice carbine....a great pistol for me.

Because I have been a TC Contender owner since 1968, I am very comfortable with the two-handed (TACO) hold of the PRod.
I do enjoy shooting it as a carbine when shooting rats…
The scope is FFP BSA 4.5-14 Tactical along with a flashlight and laser on top.

Was thinking along the same line..it's analogous to the Contender or even more so a Remington Nyylon 66 pistol....now I want all of those things

When the p-rod is in pistol configuration I like shooting it like the guy in the pic (minus the offset scope mount):

"guy in the pic" is Jim of Precision Airguns & Supplies at the 1st PFT State match in TN. Relive he finished 1st and such side mount scopes were than outlawed. I test fired it a bit, worked a charm indeed, actually has some regular (common) pistol grip that was nice. Behind him with the ed hat is "Firemashal" Pat - RIP- .

And a good time was had by all.

Personally (old age considered tho) the Prod suits me only as a carbine, Now my 6' 225lb neighbor used it just fine as a pistol. For me as a regular pistol I prefer the 1701P.

First time i have seen a side mounted scope . i might have to try that just for fun .
what makes it not legal ? too much support ? If that's the case why would not the dead man position be illegal ?
I was wondering the same thing. It doesn't seem to offer any real unfair advantage & if it is others would probably just adopt.

It's not like he's wearing a skin suit or some crazy form of new technology.

It would be fun to try
