HYPER VELOCITY NOTOS... DEVASTATING EFFECTS ON DOVE! Slow motion vid

Just kidding. this is my much tuned down Notos still taking kicking ass and taking names!

This tune is strictly for backyard plinking under 20 yds so I wanted under 7fpe and still be under 1/4" at 15 yards. Here are my chrono results with different pellets below. I was out of the 25.83g Rangemasters so only made 2 shots on the chrono. Shooting the 25.83g Rangemasters at 330fps is awesome, like lobbing a bowling ball.

I was out of everything but my backup stash of Gamo 15.43g when this Ringneck Dove decided to join the native doves and won't have any of that. Only about 5.5fpe and still got a pass through!

Hmmmm, dove breast

Good job! How did you tune down your Notos? Hammer spring only?
Turned down the regulator 1-2/3 turns on the reg and cut 4 coils off of the stock hammer spring. Originally turned it down 1-1/2 turns on the reg and cut 3 coils off and got this result on the chrono.

Then I wanted to get it down a bit more so I cut another coil off and turn down the regular bit more to get the JSB 15.89's down to 429fps / 6.5fpe.

That's crazy, I bet you get a ton of shots now! I may do something similar and shoot wadcutters. You would get some insane pops and holes with wadcutters and they would get a bit more velocity. Specially if you got the 11gr ones

I've been considering converting mine to .177 recently. I don't hunt so accuracy and shot count are what I'm usually after within 40 yds.
But after seeing your results with a detune I might consider going that route. What kind of shot count are you getting and what weight pellets?
I still think .177 and the detune might be the way to go for 40yds.

How would you go about converting a Notos to .177? I’ve seen all the Notos posts the last couple years and thought that it would make a fun little gun if only they made one in .177 and tuned it down to sub 12 fpe. If the accuracy was there it would make a great lightweight silhouette rifle.

I haven't shot it down so not sure about shot count and for out to 40 yards, don't think this tune would do it, not sure if they'd be stable out that far cause they're going so slow, the 25g are only going 330fps / 6.25fpe.

You could shhot light 7g pellets in 177 @600pfs and get 6fpe and maybe get to 40 yards

I suppose it could be done with SPA parts.

When you said "devastating" I was expecting feathers flying & a loud SCHWACK upon impact. I see a good kill but I wouldn't call it devastating. Maybe my bar is set too high (for a truly devastating impact). Good shooting anyway.
That's why my 1st 2 words on the thread were "just kidding"

Let me know if this one is a little better effects. . We aim to please.

For such a slow moving pellet the impact still surprises me :)
