Gamo My pellet suggestion for 22 cal. Swarm Magnum 10x Gen3

I’d like to suggest to those who have a 22 cal. Swarm Magnum 10x Gen3 to try the JBS Hades 15.89 gr. pellet. I was disappointed with my recent purchase of the Mag after trying 4 different pellets: H&N Match 21.14 gr. Avg FPS @ 706; Stoeger X-Hunt 15.74 gr. Avg FPS @ 825; HAWKi Diabolo STR 13.7 gr. Avg FPS @ 980 and GAMO Luxor CU 9.9 gr. Avg FPS @ 1130. The Luxor CU’s were part of the kit purchase, to which I say to GAMO, “You think this is a match for the Mag? You’ve gotta be kidding.” Anyway, on to why I am suggesting the Hades pellets. I went to the range with 2 preloaded cartridges, 6 pellets each per range rules, and set up 2 targets @ 25 yards. First target was promising, so I adjusted the scope and shot another 6 into the second target. Now I’m thinking, hey, these are grouping nicely. I adjusted the scope a little more and on the third target ended up with what I was hoping the Mag could do. Mind you, this is my first air gun and not looking to be a comp shooter. I’m just having fun, along with building confidence that I can keep the damn varmints out of the garden. I did try 12 pellets @ 50 yards, and it’s obvious that I need to improve my skills. Figuring out the 3+ inch drop after the first 6 shots to see if they would group is something I’ll work on, but only for fun as

25 yards is the zone for my varmints.

These are great guns for the dollar. My experience with them have been very good. Don't try the heavier pallets. The breech seal in these guns were made for the lower power guns . What happens is the heavier pellets cause more back pressure causing the breech seal to leak slightly. In my experience causing a harsh recoil which affects your accuracy. The alloy pellets to try in your Gamo are the Predator GTO's. I have had great luck with these accuracy, wise and
they will not hurt the gun. This advice is from years of experience with them. My purpose for using them is not to gain feet per second, but to gain accuracy.

Nice group! Good pellets are worth the price. Did you run a few patches down the barrel? That can solve a lot of accuracy issues.
Thx for the compliment on my group. I agree, good pellets are worth the price. I have approximately 200 shots on the Mag so far, and as cleaning goes, it appears there are those who do and those who don’t clean that often. I’m leaning towards those not that often. However, I’d try the patch if it began to get erratic, now that I have a pellet that’s grouping.

What hurts Gamo most is there cat ( cant adjust trigger ) trigger.

Its heavy and painful
Its like pulling a log chain through the mud by your chin hairs

I keep threatening the screw mod but im too lazy. i just suffer 😏.

Just keep shooting and let it settle in nice and you should notice the accuracy improve .

Looks good so enjoy

I appreciate your advice. The Mag’s recoil was definitely a surprise to me and certainly not the same as my grandson’s 177 Whisper that I shot 5 pellets with before buying the Mag. Hopefully, over time I’ll learn all the nuances of the Mag, one of which I already have. If a pellet doesn’t autoload, I’ve learned that there’s a distinct difference, by sound mostly, then when it does. Along with nothing hitting the target. It’s only happened maybe three times. As far as feeling the difference in recoil between pellet weights, I have not, but now I’ll pay more attention to it. I’ll try out your suggestion of the Predator pellets the next time I’m ready to do some experimenting.

I’m not a fan of the CAT either. I’ve read the complaints and the mod you can make to the CAT that somewhat improves it. I opted for the 8mm screw, but just in case I didn’t like it, I also bought the 100mm. I’m sticking with the 8mm for now, but I wish it had helped with that long travel; it’s ridiculous. Give it a try, you’ll like it. Don’t forget (like I did) a few washers for the 10mm in case it’s too long.

I like saving a few bucks on pellets as much as the next. I’ll keep my eye out for them.

Nice shooting!

Just get a longer screw, quick fix. As for the pellets my Gamo Swarm’s prefer Gamo Redfire and H&N Green!
Aint the one needed a m2 x 10 or 12 mm ?

I also seen someone say its m 2.5.

I just shoot mine as is cause no one around here has them screws to even try ... So i never did the mod

This one: 2 x M2.5 x 10mm S/S Socket Head Screws + 2mm Wrench. Gamo CAT/SAT Trigger Fix

I remove the stock trigger screw, screw in the 10mm all the way in then back up the screw 3.5 turns. End up with 2lb. trigger!!!
I wondered if gamo and there ways made some up that took a m2 and some that took a m2.5 just to keep pople from doing it or somthing .. lol .. gamo ..lol they dont like you working on there stuff .

They are all 2.5mm screws. The 2 mm you have seen mentioned is the WRENCH size needed to remove the screw. The factory size screw is 2.5 mm x 6 mm long. Some replace it with a 10 mm long screw, but you can't snug it all the way down or you will wind up with an unsafe "hair trigger'. An 8 mm long screw tightened all the way down worked perfect for me .
