Airforce Airforce CondorSS .22; your choice for the most accurate standard pellet

JSB 18gr. The challenge with the Condors will be getting it low enough to be accurate. Unless you go with the inserts in the tophat, typically what you can do is try a fill pressure around 2400-2500 and pop an o ring behind the top hat. Chrony will be ultra helpful to see where your shots start to flatten out and how many shots you'll get. You'll want to take it back to around 860fps for best accuracy. Others have had good luck with 21gr Kodiaks as well. Back in the day, Eun Jin pellets were also used.

Thank you Rob_in_NC!
yes sir... I've owned dozens of AF rifles and so have a fair amount of experience with them. There are some here on the forum who are much more into them and can also help out, so ask away. If you're really new to the platform and would like to discuss, hit me on DM and we can set up a phone call if that's easier.

As Rob said, getting it low enough.

I'm on the crazy side of the AirForce spectrum. I add high flow tophat, regulators, plenums and large bottle on the air side. I add heavy spring and heavy hammer on the mechanical side. 18" barrel too.

I've found the H&N Barracuda Match 21.14gr were the best across a range of regulator settings. I eventually set the regulator to 1400psi and shoot the pellets at around 900FPS to maximize shot count.

With the standard SS 12" barrel it was around 2000psi for 900FPS.

My favorite regulator for the .22 is the Huben Power Cricket Max-ATH universal with the 50cc plenum.

You really only need an adjustable regulator and the power wheel to tune your gun. The rest is all for power/shot count.

I just use the small reservoir that comes with the regulator, good for 1-2 shots. Then adjust the regulator up or down 1/4 turn until you get your FPS.

A regulator with plenum will get you more shots and a much more consistent shot string.

Also, on my guns, the AirForce top hat is thread locked to their bottle. Huben Power also builds regulators with tophat. But you have to buy them from Huben Power

Oops, CondorSS is a 19" barrel. I was thinking Talon.

No slugs. Pest control including squirrels. Thank you for your recommendation....!

Suburban area where downrange energy could be an issue = the lighter pellet the better.

Reach out and touch something, without needing to worry about continued downrange energy = the JSB .22/25.4. With a standard twist rate barrel that pellet seems to do best in the 890fps realm.

Yes, you'll need the transfer port restrictors. MASSIVE power from the Condor line. I've played with lots of airguns, and the Air Force configuration of having the bottle directly behind the barrel, plus their simple valve system, makes them far and away the easiest small bore airgun to get fpe out of. And that ease with which they make power is almost detrimental, if trying to tame them for lighter pellets. That's where the transfer port restrictors come into play.

I've got a .22 AF barrel sitting on my bench right now, trying to decide what direction to take it. The donor recipient is a .25 Condor SS.

One thing about upgrading AirForce guns

My first AirForce gun was a TalonSS i got for $100. Fixed the tophat and gun worked fine. I was already using Huben Power regulators so i ordered the MAX-ATH. Then I found Trajectron.com and all the upgrades, hammer, spring, tophat. Then I bought a 19" barrel.

I spent close to $700 to turn that $100 gun into a gun worth at least $350.
