I jailed Alvin and Theodore

To start out with, Alvin showed up last year early summer of 2024 for about three days then vanished. Then he shows up this June and stuck around and along came Theodore early July. I did not have any problems with them that I could tell at the time (mistake) and became fond of them running around as it was entertaining. One day I noticed clumps of sunflowers popping up in the yard and all over in the bark dust. They broke the law. I had Alvin in my cross hairs at 32 yds. (head shot) but just couldn't pull the trigger so I went down to tractor supply and bought a Havahart live trap, first day caught Alvin the second day Theodore. I released them next to a creek in the woods about 2 miles away. The wife says you shoot everything else around here, squirrels, rabbits, racoons, possums, why not them ? I told her they were just too cute lol. BTW I used peanut butter and pressed sunflower seeds into it. Here's Alvin

@kayaker I read “I jailed with Alvin and Theodore.” I clicked the link just to see what in the hell was going on because I didn’t recognize the names until the lightbulb clicked. I anticipated reading one helluva a story. I know I know, but I haven’t had my coffee yet.

What’d you find that they tore up besides getting into your bird feeder(s)?

They were going to the bird feeders filling their mouths then going around the yard and bark dust and burying it now it's germinating and popping up all over.

@kayaker Ohhhh I think I get it now. They do that squirrel thing. Hey, sunflowers beat oak trees most days.
I have lived in my area for close to 40 years and never had seen one, with the mass building going on in the past 8 yrs. it has disrupted wildlife. Yes, they bury food like squirrels which I didn't know but do now lol. They wouldn't come buy the cage till I cleaned all the excess seed off the ground below the feeders which forced them to the trap.
