HW/Weihrauch Oh no, Mr. Bill!

Congratulations. Post photos when you get it. It'll be twangy and notchy when you get it but be patient. It'll smooth out with use.
I have one... oh maybe 8-9 hundred pellets down the pipe. No let up in temper, still a bitch. Might have to dig it out and put some more down. This is my only HW I don't particular care for. Bought it for it's looks.
This ain't the only up side down thing lately...

What caliber is it? It's not uncommon to need a couple thousand shots to smooth some HWs. It's it still dieseling?

.177. I’m not wasting 2000 pellets to break it in. If it shoots that bad, it will get a new spring kit. 2000 pellets can cost $60. That will cover a good deal of the kit cost.

This is true. I can't stand twang of any level myself. I put kits in just as soon as I verify acceptable accuracy. Some people don't have the ability to kit their guns and want to try shooting it in before shipping it off to a tuner. I didn't know where your abilities and budget lie. Best of luck with the new rifle.

2000? Lol .. is that a lot ? Eell maybe if you buying stupidly priced pellets it could be. 2000 pellets a drop in the bucket .. that just a welcome to hw thing .. you got to go shoot and finesse one in not a just pull it out of the box gun . You think a new spring and seal dint need to be shot in to see if itx good or need adjustment? Lol.. then the wood/ screw deal with one too boot ..

But hay ..once i was a first time hw guy as well and got enlightened...😉

I’ve kitted all my springers including FWB300s, TX200, R7, R9, and HW97k. I can’t believe HW uses such crappy springs and dog 💩 for lubricants. I’m prepared for another.

JSB, FX or AAs are anywhere from $12 to $16 per tin depending where you buy them. I like to shoot for accuracy, not just to exercise my arm cocking the rifle.

Lots do snatch one down new out of the box and " tune" it. I kinda do but itd mostly debur and re lube proper. Then just shoot the factory spring snd seal till ot snaps ( aboug 12 months max under me ) then go with new guts . By that time as well the wood screw holes have compressed as i keep tighting then up as i go as needed and stock screws stay put i never used loc tite on them yet .. you dpend time and the tlc maintenance on a hw it will pay you back on the bench .. Rome wasent built in a day ya know ..

Anyways good luck snd enjoy that hw. It should give many years of enjoyment..

I agree the guts and assembly practices of the Hws aren't impressive. Tuning the rifle usually only makes it smoother and nicer to shoot. It hardly ever makes it more accurate. A gun has to have major internal problems before the accuracy tanks. If a Hw is inaccurate, it's usually in the barrel and that's hard to fix. That's why I shoot them for accuracy before I kit them. Once you open up a gun it's difficult to return it.

I've had the 35E now in .177 cal for a couple of weeks. My impression: fit and finish is outstanding. No dieseling or twang. Shoots very accurately right out of the box with OEM iron sights at least in my 10M basement range. Soon to add a scope. I like it so much, I bought another in .22 cal with the stainless finish. I consider this rifle 2nd to my TX200, but it's a very close 2nd.

IMHO, if you have to modify anything right out of the gate to improve ... well, I'm rethinking my opinion on the mfg's quality control. I understand going beyond the mfg's standards to improve tolerances that they don't have time for, but still the product should put a smile on your face right away. Cost vs Quality being relevant to the item of discussion. 'Tony' told me once that he went through every Taipan Vet he sold at that time with a 'tune' service. I always wondered then, how do those Taipans run without out being serviced first before going out the door to the end customer? Regardless, nothing wrong with upgrading at all. When I told average folk what I paid for any decent springer ... their face goes into shock. So did mine when I got back into higher end air stuff.
