eBay restrictions on California buyers - I’ve had enough!

Good to know, explains why when I look for higher caliber specific I don't see much. This all may be useful for those selling as well. Lots of potential in CA being prevented. I did notice Bass Pro Shop has a list of Areas they will not deliver to because of city/county ordinance. Only a couple areas in CA.
Thats all it takes. Ebay doesnt want to track by county so they ban whole state. Amazon you cant get a red dot shipped to Cali if seller also ships night vision. Have to find another seller to get simple red dot.

I lived in the state of Mass which airguns were legal to buy and sell, but there were some municipalities that outlawed possession of them. So to stay safe Amazon and others deny sales the entire state. I believe it is a smart business decision on their part.
I'm from MA. I don't know of any areas that outlaws them because they are legal in the state and you can get them when of legal age. Their usage; however, is different. Some towns ban any discharge even from airsoft. That's when you just have to join a range. I have all the legal licenses and Amazon won't ship them and that's silly, especially a 15 minute drive to New Hampshire and you can get any air stuff without any questions.

Hi there AGN. I know there have been some similar posts to this, but I’d like to take a moment of your time. As you may know, eBay has decided that even though they are perfectly legal, California buyers are not allowed to purchase Airguns through eBay. We are allowed to sell on eBay, but not buy.

I’ve spoken to a chat representative, who wasn’t helpful. I can post the chat logs, but the gist of it was he didn’t even know California was a US State. I kept asking him questions to the point where he said he would send this matter to an “escalation team” that would get back to me in 48-72 hours. (I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they actually do.)

Here’s where I’d like your help:

My plan is to combat their reasoning, if they have any, that forbids the sales. I suspect they will say that CA law states you must be 18+ to buy them, to which I plan to respond with item numbers on eBay of sex toys, play boys, and drug/tobacco paraphernalia.

Any other ideas? We’ve got smarter people here than I, surely someone can see an angle that I can’t.
We should do the same with Gamo not selling piston seals to anyone in the U.S.

Marlboro has a ban on possessing air guns. Years ago teenagers were doing a lot of damage so the town banned the sale of and posse them. That is the reason New England Airguns is in Hudson the next town over . Amazon won’t ship because there are other towns with restrictions as well.

Ironically Marlborough fish and game club hosts many field target events and we’re driving our guns through that city all the time. Wouldn’t be fun to deal with cops pulling folks passing through there.

For clarification it's not illegal to ship airguns or sell them in California but it is in fact heading that way. Not only has ebay restricted shipping there but also shadow bans sellers of airguns. Amazon has also dramatically curtailed their shipping of airguns as well.

If you're in California and want to buy aifguns start looking on page 8 of Google to find smaller more customer service oriented companies that appreciate your business.

The State of California has no purchasing restrictions outside of being 18... One thing that may be a hitch is that non-firearms need a brightly colored tip or brightly colored features that distinguish them from an actual firearm. A brightly colored bit of tape/paint on the muzzle should be sufficient.

What is to stop you on ebay from not buying through ebay and going direct to the seller to ship to a legal state?

I use Craigslist to sell air rifles. The problem with ebay is fraud in which case you are on your own and the guarantees do not actually apply.

When I lived in Texas there were traffic accidents that ended as gun fights. Perfectly legal to have a loaded handgun in the glove box. Also legal to drive around with an open beer or hard liquor bottle so long as there is a passenger in the vehicle. I do not see that as being good for anyone.

Tried
So ive had the same issue. Had family make a purchase in AZ for me off ebay, another purchase discussed outside of ebay. I cant make a ebay purchase from someone next town over. Ive tried bids, offers, counters, all flagged quickly. There may be a way, im finding if the listing Type is Not under PCP exactly, lets say just pellet, I can make a step forward. Did a lil test just now, put a counteroffer on a shortened K1 and it went thru. Yay possible progress. Pretty sure person selling, is on AGN. If youre reading this, don't deny my low counter 😂. Anyway, if it's something I want for the right price, ill try again and post an update.
Update, tried to buy it now a few days ago. Even with description not specifying pcp. Didnt work. Don't use ebay much already. Meh, back to other means.

I mean the regulations are keeping LA, SF etc safe so by all means create more.
