The $2000 dollar gun.

This post question is for the guys that own expensive airguns and anyone that just knows. If a man that is not rich was to have saved his money till he had $2000 , and was asking for advice , and even it's twice that much what air rifle would he buy , and oh yeah just for target shooting I can't kill animals anymore it's just not in my heart. Not competition either just a really nice well made dependable air rifle. What is the rifle you would have bought the first time if you knew.
Thanks for your advice.
OldVet - are you looking for a "black rifle" (ie short AR style) or are you a traditional walnut and steel bolt/lever action?

I believe I would like to have a Taipan in a bullpup. I learned more about airguns from this one post than all the others combined. It's a great read if you have the time. In this post I explained my situation. I learned a lot from many good people here in Airgun Nation. I appreciate all the help I think I will someday be able to acquire a few top end airguns I can pass down to my family. I I used airguns as a type of therapy, and lost 135 lbs I got so strong I gave myself a hernia lol.
I have surgery on the 28 th. I'm in great shape tho , so It's really no concern.
I love airguns , and killing cans , and bullseye's.lol. Very grateful for the members here. OV.

Good point ChickenDumpling. I got tunnel vision because most of what I own are bullpups. But if OldVet prefers a traditional rifle, there are some really good guns out there under $2k.

I‘ve really had my eye on a RAW 1000x Laminate for some time now.
I just got a used HM1000x .25 and OH My.
Waiting on magazines but I put some pellets and slugs through one at a time
JSB 25.39GR 1050FPS
H&N Barracuda 30.86gr 994FPS
FX Hybrid Slug 26gr 1025FPS
H&N Heavy Slug 42gr 885FPS

The RAW 35CC plenum won't work with the MASSIVE shroud and moderator so I customized things just a bit:

60cc plenum (RAW 35CC & Dream 25CC)
Huben Power Dream Universal: 2500psi
Tuxing 1.1L bottle

Not at all ... Vanity and possessing really nice stuff is what life's all about for many .... A Very sizeable contingent of those purchasing high end air guns relies upon those who just gotta own & try it then selling it at a loss, sometime a very sizeable loss which is great for buyers in the lightly used market.

I like your sarcasm, is shows where your heads at taking a simple statement and then blowing it way out of proportion. As my standards have absolutely ZERO to do with this conversation. Please Troll elsewhere :cautious:
Yeah, there’s people who like brands and then they talk about. They don’t understand that I’m with you. What you good about having to blow all your money to show off again it is way beyond your limitations like they say a man must know he’s limitation

Just got a HM1000x .25 off gunbroker.com auction last week. The older Rapid Air Weapons rather than the current Rapid Air Worx. Got it for $850. I ordered the 35cc plenum and 20cc extension. Turns out they cannot be used on the guns with the giant shroud/moderator attached.

So i came up with plan B.
Plenum > 1/8" shim > M18-1.5 male to male > Huben Power Dream Universal regulator > 1.1L bottle.

The shim is for AirForce guns from trajectron.com.

The M18-1.5 adapter is custom made.

I can now fill to 4500psi and change my regulator setting (upward only).
60cc total plenum.

The gun shoots laser beams at 45 yards. Easily as accurate as my FX Royale or Boss.

I pulled the Discovery 5-30x50 scope off because it has serious issues at low mag and minimum focus is 25 yards.

Need some magazines and the new scope and I'll put it on the chrony
I got the magazines and with that 60cc and the reg at ~2200psi it is running hot. Barracuda is the star today. Dime size groups. I'll drain it tomorrow and take the regulator down to 2000 psi.

I think it's more about retail therapy. They buy something nice that they've wanted for awhile and they feel good when they buy it. Then they feel good when they're anticipating it arriving and for those first few times they use it and while they accessorize it or learn about how to use it. They weren't really buying a new rifle because they wanted or needed a new rifle, they were buying a dopamine hit because they wanted to feel better.

AKA Consumer Excess or Keeping Up With The Joneses.
Buying more than the nominally correct value for the needs or requirements.

There are also those that believe spending more = quality of product.
