RTI RTI Mora, "Come On Man!"

Joe, it appears you have your tune really locked,. Congratulations! I have already bought my scope for my Mora. I was just waiting until all the bugs were worked out to order. I got burned on my FX Crown because of its POI issues. I really like the .25 caliber in an air rifle, so that was locked in to my caliber choice. Have you tried slugs yet? The reason I ask is that the 1 in 21 may be a bit slow. With the 700CC cylinder, what is your shot count currently?

I'm not yet shooting slugs. As a BR shooter, until the majors begin offering serious incentives in an unlimited class in which slugs will be allowed, I'm concentrating strictly on 100yd BR. That said, I know that Rick Rheam is having great success with 40 grain slugs at 200 plus yards in 25 caliber. I believe he's shooting the Altros slugs at about 900 ft per second.

Congratulations Joe, that is some awesomely consistent shooting. Did you shoot those targets indoors or out?
Anytime you see those 8-X ring targets, you can be sure that I'm shooting indoors. 90% of my practice and 100% of my testing and tuning are done indoors. When I shoot outdoors I use a full size target card like this one.

where can I get the rear rest like the one you have? Are there any good after market rear rests that attach to the bottom of the rear stock? I'd really like to get one for my Mora, thanks. Oh, and I am very impressed so far with the accuracy of my Mora, both with slugs and pellets, especially the 29.5 grain ones for some reason they shoot great at high speeds.

Joe, do you have any targets posted from outdoor shooting sessions? Seeing that many have gone to .30, do you find that .25 is better at 100Y than .30 In open air?
I have been and remain a .25 caliber shooter. I'm a big believer in science and regardless of the plethora of anecdotal evidence, the physics are hard to dispute. BC and areodynamic physics are squarely in the corner of the.25 caliber.

I believe all of the other shooters at this regional FSA match (same weekend as RMAC) were shooting .30 cal

How did he take photos of the target papers that look so flat like they are on a PowerPoint presentation ?
I scan them, then run a centering routine on the shots that marks the targets at 45 pixels from center. Then I add whatever info I choose, like the fps or the individual target score etc in Photoshop CS. The actual unscanned targets look like this.

I'm sorry I'm so late responding to this. I just saw it as I was attempting to locate an answer to another question I previously posted.

My rear rest is a home fabricated creation composed of the following items all available on Amazon.

I’m all about the science and ballistics also. I’d like to hear your explanation of why the .25 is superior to the .30?
From a ballistics (physics) standpoint, IMHO, the .30 AEA 50.5 are a better choice than the AEA 29.5. I’m getting routinely about 0.072 GA with the .30 and about 0.060 GA with the .25. (BC)
Perhaps accuracy and precision are your deciding factors? Shooting .30 does have advantages such as being able to track the pellet flight better, and also to see the holes better in the target. Additionally, with a very slow twist .30 barrel such as 1:40, the “vertical jump” is less in quartering winds (it’s physics).

Consistency in spades! Nothing I've experienced in the past can match this type of consistency. The Mora in .25 caliber is quite simply the most accurate PCP I've ever had the opportunity to shoot.

Accuracy is the result of the culmination of several factors all enjoined to created the desired effect. It's a great feeling when everything comes together and that X ring disappears. However, the most important thing is having the confidence in your equipment to know you can do it again and again, at will. Consistent repeatability is literally everything and that's where this gun really shines.

Here are six 100 yard targets all shot between 970-978 fps. That's an aggregate total of 150 shots (no sighters) with an average SD of 2.0 and an ES of 7.7fps.

Ridiculous in the best possible way.

Joe, I'm interested in your reply to/starting a conversation on this topic with Centercut.
