Any guns you regret buying"

Umarex Origin :( Sad story
I disagree. The Origin did its job even for you. It planted the seed of airguns in you. The Origin is a starter gun. Coming with a pump and a clever system to help fill the gun at a decent price point. And got you looking for the next level of precision airgunning. You, like most of us, was not prepared to drop over $1000 for an airgun. Not when the airguns we grew up with were all below a Franklin. Now look at you!! In way deeper into airguns than you probably expected. Well over a G, probably closer to over 3 Gs. So while the Origin was not up to the full task you had in mind, it did get you hooked on airguns. Am I right??

None, however I do have a couple I regret breaking with my occasionally crazy (dumb) ideas. Both probably fixable if I wasn't punishing them for breaking 🙂
I know exactly how you feel I ruined my 1st Zelos trying to put the air guage in plenum. But I have my new one now , and lots of spare parts , and learned a lot from my mistakes.

Air Arms S510 Extra, Walnut.

We are isolated from other airgunners and reliant on reading reviews and online consultation. I bought the S510, on that basis, having never even seen an Air Arms product, let alone the S510.

It is very accurate, has given almost no trouble, but I just don't like it. Why? It's bulky and heavy, compared to my two FX Streamlines, or FX DRS, about the same as my Kral Mega. It's more accurate than the Kral and about the same as the Streamlines. The DRS is a bit better.

What I dislike: The bloody magazine goes in from the wrong (left side), which I hate, really hate, especially because it doesn't allow me to use a parallax wheel.
The magazine's automatic advance and the chinsy spring clip (that in fairness hasn't broken), Magazine is harder to load than my preferred magazines, and lacks a stop when empty. That means that when I'm concentrating, I often fire on an empty chamber.

If the magazine is loaded, and left indexed the last pellet falls out if the magazine is turned onto its side. Hate that. The way to avoid that is to place the cassette out of time, but that's a PITA if one forgets to reindex because it won't feed the pellet. Hate that.

The fill system is a Rube Goldberg, bulky "hat" thing that goes over the end of the reservoir, rather than a probe like most guns. It leaks, even with thicker "O rings" unless it's played with to find a no leak position. Hate the system. Yes, I can buy a conversion but no stock in Canada and shouldn't have to.

The vented "puff" from the action end of the shroud was distracting but ignored now.

The cocking lever end hurts my fingers after a while, but OK now that I bought a toggle to convert it.

It sits in the rack at the range and I have to push myself to take it out, rather than to shoot my FXs.

Will I keep it? Depends on the day, but it has a nice finish, shoots well attractive, so...?

Are any of the above a problem for another person? Likely not at all.

It's just why I regret this one.
A revision, after sitting unused in the rack at the range, I pulled out the S510 and it couldn't have functioned better. Now, it has risen a bit in my estimation, but I still can't put a finger on the reasons.

Funny how these types of post pop back up. It’s fun to look back and see where guys were with the older stuff and where we all are now. All the talk of Mora and M4 or Blackwolf now lol. I guess to keep the fun alive my biggest Airgun regret was unfortunately my most expensive, the Edgun Leshiy 2. Probably a lemon, but overall terrible experience from Airgun to distributor. The Airgun I most regret selling is my Huben K1 .22.

I may have to get a Zelos just to see if i can make as heavy as an anchor. Im sure a C88 bottle adapter and my 120cc inline plenum with a big bottle would be a good start.

I'd Rather get the HUBEN dedicated Zelos adapter valve , so you can fill the bottle to 4500 , and set the reg on it right at 3,500 , you could get a lot more shots that way. Paul makes a Big dog bottle adapter, so you could put a 1.1 L on it.

An Airforce angled adapter might work with the Huben Zelos reg and a big bottle.
