Finally found one - LP53

Hi Steveoo , I am new here and have a LP53 date 1957 coming soon and would have been reading what you have accomplished with you updating modifications. Very much want to do the same to mine , was a Gunsmith years ago and shifted into Watchmaking about 15 years now..very rewarding bringing mechanisms/machines back to operation again . Have recently entered the pellet-BB world -couple of months - and am really enjoying all the vintage pieces I have discovered..1935 to 1967 so far..mostly the 'repeater' format...challenge.. I will have the LP53 soon ( few days) and will see how it shoots and will come back here . Thanks , Randy1911a1
No problem, drop me a line if you want advice on conversion.

Hi..sorry it took a minute to find your message and get back with you..new to this ( or any) forum format..but will adapt ;-).. got my LP53 couple of days ago and spent the morning dis-assemble..clean..re-assemble , dual springs...leather seal..waiting now on a chrony to see what fps I am dealing with. Really jumps in the hand and will want to smooth it out and get best I can from the design.using you conversions..!! .serial # 16532 so older model if that makes any difference. Thanks again Steveoo for getting back with me. Randy

Hi Steveoo , haven't forgotten to get back with you ..I got a chrony but had to wait till the indoor lighting setup arrived . Will run a few shots over it and get back here to speak with you . Can already tell I will like to "smooth"it out.

Since you mentioned "smooth" I just picked this up this smooth-side LP53 at the Ohio airgun show.

Wow..that is in perfect condition…sometimes it hard to believe they can exist like this. I can see myself with one in this condition..box..etc for the history …and have my “shooter” I enjoy using …smiling..👌

Hi , my 53 is running in the mid 350's..at best and I will really like to move forward with the conversion you did to yours. So thanks in advance for the info/help...I see the potential here and it is going to be a great air pistol for sure.

If you are Stateside and needing to do the work yourself. I have a new recommendation.
My recommendation is it to go for the Vortex HW30 kit, chopping the spring to 17 coils, flattening one end and go with the guide used, dispensing with the spring sleeve, the 30 spring being already a perfect, slight clearance fit inside the OEM piston without the sleeve.
Quite a pricey way to go about it but the easiest option and the Vortex kits available stateside.

Thanks , I will check into it and when I look at the parts I will see what the mods are your talking about..thanks ...I know the action can be better , the design and quality build is there..!!

Design and build is there but the OEM duel spring aspect was poor.
Robbing power, and introducing unnecessary twang in irony to their thinking of 2 springs adding power.

The HW30 spring is perfect in fit, and is one of the worlds best mainsprings in terms of
Lasting quality. There is 2 short guides which come with the kit that can be useful for guiding purposes.
The sleeve is however, wasted money. It does not fit but the other parts offer the DIY home tuner a chance to get the job done.
