Crosman Can you name any of else 2240 modifications?

Buy a 2240 that been modified. Kind of like a surprise package b/c I don't know what is inside.

Can anyone tell me what they know about the modifications to the pictured 2240?

There is no front sight so it has a 11mm rail ? and a steel breech? I think? Can you buy a 1911 a1 grip frame or did someone just put 1911 grips on it?

Trigger looks altered, a trigger shoe maybe. I am a collector more than shooter, so I don't have experience with these air pistols. Does it have an adjustable hammer spring just below the bolt? Any help offered will be great, thank you.

I think you should sell it to someone that will use it,as it is not a collectable ,but a much modified 2240,many changes to it...go look look at a stock 2240 and you will see a lot of changes to the one you have, different lower frame is the main one. Looks to have a power adjuster....
$99.95is that why you bought it? How long you been a vinage air gun collector? What is you goal ,I just am curious,as most of my old cousins have many air guns over 60=70 years old ,they have not used for over 50years or more, that goes for shotguns and .22 rimfire also.....

Thanks for confirming the frame is an add on mod that mimic a 1911 a1. Also glad to hear -- Looks to have a power adjuster...
It will be fun to shoot; it seems lots of people "they have not used for over 50years or more" . . . so are any of them rare airguns?
I am looking for Hy-score branded Hammerli airguns if your cousin has any HS --see if they want to sell them?
Again, thanks for your help. Take care my friend.

The grip frame was made by Blue Fork Design, now defunct. Their frames allowed for AR15 grips to be used. An AR15-1911 adapter grip allowed the 1911 grips to be used. So it’s rare in that sense because you can’t get these Blue Fork frames anymore.
The breech with left hand bolt is an aftermarket breech as well. It might be an aluminum breech.
Yes that is a power adjuster in the back and a trigger shoe on the trigger. The picatinny deal on the side maybe a home drew item someone cobbled together.

You’re probably right. Blue Fork was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it
I remember now that there was something very similar that was being sold on eBay awhile back. Might be this frame mentioned in this thread.

That was my thought, vaguely remembering that item you’ve just link, thank you, hence I was curious of the material 👍

Marflow,
Thank you sharing both knowledge and the eye candy pictures too. Your brass 2240 is a pretty piece of hardware so is the Blue Fork grip assembly? Would you mind telling me the cost of mods parts [Steel breech, grip frame, power adjuster, whatever you can spot] is more than $70? I am excited about using a pistol with the 1911 grip frame and not have to pay 58 cents for each shot fired. PB ammo is expensive even reloads nowadays.

I have a number of air pistol with 1911 grips; I collect Marksman airguns. Many of us had one of their weak and inaccurate MSP twin spring BB pistols that looks like the 1911 colt 45 when we were kids. I started collecting Marksman air pistols because they hold a special place in my memories and b/c they can still be bought boxed in mint condition for less than $25. Back to the 2240, it is both strong and accurate and again it has the most favored 1911 grip frame coupled affordable ammo means I'll enjoy shooting it for many years. I will buy another stock 2240, throw it in back of the gun safe and in 25 years from now it will be classic .

Blue Fork has had several designs, but he had only one iteration of the 1911 trigger grip assembly.

If you would notice, it has an exaggerated trigger guard——it’s the one on top with see-thru grips—and not mine:

Thank you for explaining all the detail involved in this pistol. I favor 1911a1 guns since I was a US Army gunsmith.

I also bought the last of his very limited run 1911 grip panels that adapts to the 22xx/13xx trigger frame.

I haven’t had time to have it powdercoated in sandy silver yet.

First photo is his with one of his ultra unique breech designs.

2nd and 3rd are mine to show you how the panels attach:

when i got to Blue fork back in the day they were hardly making any part and the 1911 frame was not on their page at the time
i wanted a raw frame and they made one or had one they hadn't set out to anodize
at the time i was working on a Cothran piece that had been start by someone else and that rabbit hole with the Nickel Swift scope would was at the time over 800.00
so, the grip frame
Blue Fork was about 120.00
adapter was about 20.00
and the Harrett grips that are selling for 200.00 now were about 75.00
so just for that apart you have over 200.00
the scope a 2-6 x32 is over 300.00
did i say rabbit hole
now the barrel was covered in stainless tubing
and the rest of the Cothran stuff is slow disappearing he as i believe has stop making parts
the hay day of the 2240 builds are gone plain and simple
the small part suppliers are gone
