How to disassemble an AEA SF regulator?



Hi folks – I’m seeking help on repairing my regulator on an AEA SF Sniper. The gun was accidently de-gassed incorrectly and now leaks through the regulator set screw. Removing the screw, I can see where a gasket has been blown out of position and into the cavity above it. (I don’t know what the small bar of metal does, it sits in those side grooves and pops right out). Pics attached.



I can remove the gold-colored regulator from the gun body, but I can’t see anyway to take the regulator itself apart to get at that O-ring. I must be missing something obvious, despite looking and looking. I am trying not to handle the regulator much as it is lightly covered in oil.



Any info, links, instructions, or advice on getting to, and replacing, this O-ring would be very much appreciated.



PS – searching the web, I am very surprised at the lack of AEA support – could not even find a detailed owner’s manual, except for the very short one that came with the gun; it isn’t very helpful. Yes, checked out BinTAC on YouTube but nothing directly addresses this.

Worst-case scenario the whole regulator assembly is around $180 bintac usually stocks those.

Thank you. Hope it doesn't come to that but good to know. I did just find this video which discusses this particular regulator, but doesn't show how to take it apart:

Maybe the pellet shot can help. They know AEA. It absolutely has to come apart. In your last pic there is a threaded recessed hole in the middle down in there. I bet if you thread a proper size screw into it you can push it or pull it apart. Make sure you look really good for a snap ring securement as well.
