Resources Need advice

Hey all,
I have a 44 yard stretch in my back yard and I want to practice field target. Do you have any advice?
Contain the lead and most of the sound within Pickle barrels. Not good for over 20 ftlbs.
Although you can use, a .22, a .177 or .20 would be better as far as ballistic and KZ sizes go.
Anything over 20 ftlbs will damage your targets quickly!

That's a nice set-up you have there. I am on 80 acres. Wide open, nothing around me. I have steel gongs from 50 to 200 yds. You have a wooded area behind your area. So I assume you want to limit damage to your targets?

Just depends on if your wanting to eventually shoot matches or just targets at home.
Any of us can walk you thru setting up your rifle for FT for ranging and shooting the dope for it as well.
Most importantly is to have fun with it! Get a short cheap bucket and a set of hunting sticks (bipod) as thats what you can use for an FT match.
Use cheap spinners or any other target you want but FT max sizes are 1.5". I traditionally shoot smaller targets further out but im testing and training.
Set out targets at varying distances from 10-44yds. Start simple and easy and change as you feel necessary.
The running rat targets with varying size kill zone reducers are great for this. There is a lot more and everyone will chime in with some tid bits.
Are there any clubs shooting FT around you currently? A visit there would be great really. Take your gun with you but also ask the MD if they have one you can use and just go. The guys there will assist and show you then you can replicate at home.

Yes I have a local club

To get a good start on scope setup, you want to zero at the apex of the pellet trajectory. That will be 25 to 27 yards for a 20 ft lb .22 shooting Hand N FTTs. From there you holdover for both closer and further targets. work out where in your mil dots you have to hold from 9 to 60 yards. If you only have 45 yards, get good out to there. You can find the others on the warmup range before a match.

The scope wheel is anotherthing that needs to be worked out. some tape it and hand write the hash marks. Some have software to print out labels. Try it all, most of us don't get it right the first time.

#1 targets are expensive, esp if you have to replace them weekly! #2 easy lead clean up. #3 noise containment! all these keep the pocket pook, and the wife and the neighbors happy.

The first FT target I purchased was one of the Rhino targets that has a rotating faceplate and four (or five) different KZ sizes. I quickly bought a second so I could simulate just about any lane I wanted and used them on air gun fun days at a local range. Sorry I can't find an image of one....

How about this: If you want to pay for the shipping i'll give you two of these targets...
