HW/Weihrauch HW40, Light trigger & Spring tension issues.

Greetings,
My HW40 has always had a light trigger, but it has recently started having spring return issues for the first stage.
If you release the trigger prior to firing, the trigger hangs loose.
I thought I would discuss the problem here to see who may know what's is going on with it before opening it up.
Thanks 👍

i have had my P17 opened up and had no problems but when i went to open my HW40 the cover was very hard to move and just stopped
like this post that Gary made i to made a longer trigger adjustment screw and working with the trigger out was easier
the HW40 has many springs and pins and you can see that on Knobbs site and here is that thread

My P3 began doing that a couple months ago. I have not tried opening the gun. From the comment above, it sounds like something for me to leave alone as long as other functions are good.
It's an easy fix, just tighten the allen screw in the trigger until the trigger returns back to the first stage when it's cocked. Takes 30 seconds

PEP3, I was wondering if that little hole in the trigger had a recessed adjusting screw in it! I will try your idea. Is it a metric Allen? Pretty sure I have a 1mm Allen key around, definitely have 2mm.

The trigger mysteriously recovers from its slackness, BTW. During today's shooting session, it began failing to return, yet after I was done it behaved normally when I fingered the trigger without cocking the gun. It has done this several times: works normally and then quits returning, only to later start working properly again.

It only does it when it's cocked. I'm not sure what size it, but it's definitely metric. It's in there at a weird angle too, you probably need about a half turn. If you tighten it up too much the trigger will become heavy, so it's a fine line.

Strange, but if it is easy to adjust I can't complain. The gun has had 5000+ shots so far.

Thank you. The only maintenance I've done is to very occasionally Patchworm the barrel and add a drop of ND30 to the hinges (if needed), plus check the condition of the breech o-ring. Nearly every session the elevation screw moves despite not putting my hand on the sight. The gun has some quirks, alright.

I tightened it...the wrench set I bought in January was perfect for the awkward angle. One end of the L has a multi-angle shape on each of the 9 keys. The trigger needs the 2mm key.

They are made in Sweden for Pedro's NA, a Boston company that sells bicycle tools. I ordered mine from www.REI.com, $28.50.

Jetpopt does the rear sight have a bearing ball under the adjustment screw

the trigger screw would need a 2mm
now the trigger can never be sloppy and the why is because it has a compression spring pulling it down cocked or not
the trigger will reset with a real snap
now in the picture you will see two torsion springs the top one has to be but back inside the grip shell to close the assembly up
and no it is not hard to take the cover off and put back on
and this is my P17 for show and tell purposes
you might see my trigger adjustment screw is longer and that is something i had to make

It doesn’t look that great but it is much easier to cock and you don’t have to worry about messing up the rear sight. My eyes are too old for iron sights anyway.
