What springer did you shoot today?

thinking i might start picking a gun and that is what i will shoot all week ! I had not shot my HW77 in a while ,then i took it to the Midwest show to sell .
Hw77 did not sell so i brought it back home where it sat for a while . Well i took it out and shot two days with it , Nice rifle . right out of the box. haven't done anything to it . think i will keep shooting it a few more days . ( would not mind taking 2 or 3 FPE off but that doesn't seem worth the trouble )

I had the same thing happen. Had a HW77 .22 cal. for sale. Took off market to install Doppler sights and keep. Great guns. Crow
one squirrel again at 6pm, then blasted steel with the R7
Nice, don’t like squirrels.Crow
Nice shooting. Crow
Nice wood on the Jr.
Thanks. Going to leave the stickers on. One more with stickers coming hopefully this week. Crow

Shot a HW30 .177 last night. It’s a wonder the pellets didn’t melt. 97f . CrowView attachment 572933
Those of us that live in the northern climates should not be experiencing this heat! It should be against the law!! 92 here in Northern Michigan yesterday

The last time I visited Michigan, "my home state", they were in the middle heat wave. I stayed three weeks and finally the last week dropped into the fifties. 👍
We did quite a bit of airgun shooting while we were there. We hung Pike carcasses, and shot a pile of yellow jackets one of the days.

This weeks project is a Browning Leverage in.177.

It was my first Field Target rifle. Purchased in 2009 for about $150.00 I began to shoot it everyday. There is an airgun company in Burt Iowa Called Flying Dragon airguns.

The owner Mike Melick is a world class airgun tuner. He taught me a lot about trigger and spring gun tuning. And this gun has had the full treatment. It has a 12x scope because back then 12 times magnification was the max allowed. Now it is 16.
I just did a service and inspection on this gun and refitted the scope.
It has extensive trigger and stock work and it’s a good gun. But it is a 150 dollar gun. I call it my training gun. The trigger is smooth single stage. It is long and creepy, meaning you can pull the trigger half way and it will stay there. Then pull it some more and “creep” up on the point that it fires. This is a terrible habit. And if you pull the trigger then you let off the pressure, the trigger will stop moving. That’s the problem with cheap guns. You have to pull the trigger smoothly all the way till the gun goes off. Spring guns are very sensitive to this. It is good that you get used to this 2 lb trigger. You have to pull it smoothly for a long distance. Then once you master it. You move to a better two stage trigger that you can then pull through stage one and stop. Then pull stage two and fire the gun. All with a smooth action.
This week I want to figure out what ammo is most consistent. Then get it sighted in and build a dope chart.

I need to start being better about this. Pick a rifle and try and shoot at least a tin of pellets over the week.

I miss Michigan. Used to go to the Troy Birmingham area to shop, 5-6 times a year. 4 1/2 hour drive. Same terrain and weather as Ontario. Crow

I admire anyone that plays with triggers. Out of my wheelhouse. Crow
7am squirrel taken with the R7, then some steel targets. I felt like I squandered some time I could have been shooting. I probably shot around 30 pellets.
Nice another Rocky. You’re my hero.
I saw 2 small blacks, too far off. They will be back. Crow

If I did that it would take me about 3 months to come back to the beginning. Crow

Today was day 3 of shooting the same rifle all week ,. Shooting HW 77 long in .22 . Got the cronie out as i never did that since i bought it .
Results are ( drum roll heard ) 13.5 Gr pellet 13.5 FPE @ 667 FPS
15 .4 gr pellet @ 607 FPS and 12.6 FPE
Not to bad , leads me to think the guy i bought it from had or did it himself , tuned a bit ? I have seen 18 GR pellets in .22 wonder what they would do? ?
EDIT 4:26 tried FX 15.9 GR domes , 11.7 FPE 590 FPS Perfect for me .
