60 yard GK1 headshot

While considering re-attaching the Corcorran shoulder-stock to my .22 GK-1 today, I decided to check how well she's held zero while sitting domant for three months in pistol form. Upon confirming she's still zeroed to be 1" low at 50 yards, I couldn't resist an ATV ride around my 30 acre homeplace.

The place virtually overrun with cottontails lately, one made the mistake of presenting itself at too challenging distance to resist attempting the long shot off the makeshift rest over the Polaris steering-wheel.

The battery being dead in my rangefinder, I relied on familiarity with my home terrain to guesstimate the range, and held a couple inches above the (broadside) skull. The audio (crack) and visual (backflip) confirmed the 22.07 grain JTS at 880 FPS muzzle velocity had struck home where intended.

Sixty-one purposely-long paces to the poleaxed bunny confirmed my 60 yard guesstimate close enough for government work. This being a new long-shot record for my air pistol hunting, sometimes it's hard to consider the GK-1 an AIR pistol.

Correction- OFTEN hard to consider the GK-1 an AIR pistol!

Although the GK with shoulder-stock and 3-7X rifle scope is a most deadly rig, I'm reconsidering attaching the stock now.

There has been an explosion of cottontails in Central Minnesota this year. Are there cycles in cottontail populations? Nice shooting by the way. I've yet to try out the GK1 platform yet. Looks like fun!!

Since it's common-knowledge "you can believe anything on the internet", I can state unhesitantly 🤥 YES; the cycles are roughly every decade.

And having owned virtually every air pistol worth owning, multiples of those that impressed me, I can also state unhesitantly that the GK1 is the FUNNEST air pistol ever produced. :D

Correction- the mostest AWESOMEST air pistol ever produced! Can I get an amen?
