@markT A rug, large door mat, rubber horse stall mats, or carpet scraps placed beneath the compressor feet and wheels may help. Or simply try chocking the wheels.
Didn't think of a mat.. I may try that first. If doesn't work I'll try plywood and maybe use some pipe hanger straps over the tubular base or maybe over the synthetic wheels..

My Alkin W31 is “walking” (moving around on floor) when I run it. Was thinking about putting a 24”x 22” 3/4” plywood under it and fasten some ~3/4” x 3/4” wood strips perpendicular and against the wheels.
Anyone else experienced a W31 moving while running and have a solution?
probably need to level the rubber pads on the bottom of the frame, making sure that they are all touching the floor evenly. Had the same issue until I did this.

Never seen the gauge setup like that. Mine is like this. So the new gauges are way different. Guess they are changing location.

Did you get it?

It's a beast! Tops off a 98cuft tank from 3800psi to 4500psi in about 4 minutes. I was all worried about the oil then I realized by the time I get to 50 or 100hrs on this thing i might be dead by then. I don't shoot that much.

The one thing I will say is that I bought a crappy 220v plug on Amazon for $8. When I got it I realized it wasn't UL listed and was probably not a great thing to use. So if you get a compressor this nice get a nice plug to go with it! $97 for a plug was a lot but if something happens to the compressor and Alkin sees a $7 alibabba plug on it, i have a feeling the warranty is getting denied. :D

So far this thing is intense. It's way nicer than anything I ever thought i would have for this hobby.

I got the oil also. It's actually not that expensive when I think about the fact that my AV compressor oil was like 16$ a pint or something.

Looks awesome. I feel the same. Oil will last a longgg time once you do a couple oil changes. I've only done 1 and I still have half more than half a gallon left. It fills so fast compared to anything else on the market. Nothing compares to be honest.

@Skydivingmiami Personally I don’t care what it compares to. That might influence me to lust after another model. It works for me compared to making trips to the dive shop or using a direct fill portable compressor. Having an Alkin and air-hungry PCPs is like being a kid in an arcade with unlimited credits.

100%

I had the young heng... ehhh hard pass. Tried hand pumping. Nope... went all out. Happy I got clean dry air on tap. It's the best feeling.

Yea, I have had mine for about a year, Only have about 3 hours on the Alkin, I fill up three great white tanks and a few small tanks when I do my filling so it last a while , I may do a oil change soon just to get the factory oil out , I got my Alkin set to fill to 4800 psi , It seems the tanks last a lot longer with a little extra 300 psi,
Mike

Question about wiring: the wire from the “control box” has three wires: blue, brown and yellow with green stripe. Blue and brown connected directly to double pole 30 amp breaker in panel. The yellow wire? Does it connect to the white wire (in panel) (neutral)or direct to earth ground?
I just updated my sub panel in my house with 3 conductors and ground wire. Neutral and earth ground are separated in my sub panel but are connected at meter box outside 40’ away.

The yellow/green is your ground, connects to ground bar in the panel. The neutral is not used in your circuit.

I use a dryer plug on mine, and have it connected with a splitter. The yellow with green I connected to ground then the other two dont matter as they are both hot as I understand it. Just cant run the dryer and compressor at same time. I also use a 220v 30A cord that I use for my floor sanding machines.

@Scotty1: thank you sir! I just wired the yellow /green to ground. And discovered the yellow green wire had a ”ground “ label on it. Yep I’m stupid.
My compressor sits against a wall where my sub panel is on the other side, so I just drilled a hole thru drywall and connected directly into 30 amp breaker. Easy to add “dryer plug” or patch hole and relocate if desired.

Question about oil level: My new W31 came with oil above the "red dot" in the sight glass. The level in at the very top of the sight glass. I sent Alkin a meassage: as follows: "Hello, received my new W31 last week and the oil level is above the “red” dot. Should I drain it to get is level with the “red” dot in sight glass?
The reply is:
"This is the perfect situation to use that compressor "

What say you Alkin owners? Should I drain to red dot or is above the red dot ok and "the perfect situation?"

@markT I had a similar situation and was told a similar thing. I wouldn’t go higher than that though. If ever in doubt, it’s a good Idea to refer to the manual. Be sure to refill it to what’s specified in the owners manual.

Also if you’re being told this level is safe And something adverse occurs as a result, make a note of who told you that level was ok, the date, and time you spoke. I’d think that would make it a warranty issue, especially if it occurs within your warranty period. This is me speculating here.

edit: see post #10 here https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/alkin-31-vertical-oil-change.1275823/#post-1567661

There used to be an oil level diagram on the compressor. Did Alkin stop putting them on neeer compressors?

Thanks to all you guys about everything! I’ve had surgery (rotator cuff) and my mobility at the moment is very limited. With closer inspection, I got down and looked at sight glass and yes there is a diagram. ( again dumb as$) upon my first operation the compressor walked and learned the rubber feet are adjustable. I then put a level on the compressor and used the feet to “level” the compressor and distribute the weight more evenly. When I did the oil level is at the “max” level and Alkin was correct. Sorry to be so dumb.

@markT I hope you make as close to a full recovery from surgery as possible. You’re not dumb. If in doubt, ask. I don’t blame you for being cautious. I was the same way. These compressors are expensive. I bugged a few people for help, but all were gracious in assisting me. Even an Alkin employee who is no longer with the company.
