PCPs to the rifle range !

November was my birth into airguns. My range was my 13 yard cellar. Some target shooting in yard but no real benchrest.
Ankle and shoulder surgery ( laziness) prevented going. So yesterday was first trip, it’s only about 5 miles.
Anyway as soon as I parked to open gate the mosquitoes swarmed. I had the place to myself ( on and off rain).
Had to sight in my Mini14 and Sako 22 first.
FX drs 22 and Revere 177, had my zelos but didn’t get to shoot.

Did I mention the mosquitoes ?

Anyways the feeling of airgun power in the house and short backyard disappears at the range. Little noise and a very noticeable
delay to target. Felt like you could catch a pellet ! !

DRS 700 was impressive at 50 yards. Conditions were rushed as the bloodsuckers were attacking hands and face while getting
an accurate shot off. I didn’t measure but was moa. This is a gun that can put 5 pellets in one .23 hole at 13 yards.

Mosquitoes are annoying when trying to concentrate on the shot but they can be ignored for the couple of seconds it takes. That and I have protection...

I own a couple of acres that's part of a 55 acre beaver pond and the waters edge is only a couple of yards from the shooting bench. I don't need mosquito repellent, the hords of dragonflies use me for bait and none can get through the patrols.

I also just recently dipped my toes into the air-gunning world (after many years of powder burners). I'm having a lot of fun with it. I've been to the range only twice, so far. I have also been impressed with the precision of a decent air gun (Benjamin Marauder, in my case).

I can shoot up to 35 yards at home but to shoot further I have to go to a range. There is a public range available for a very modest fee but it's about an hour away. So I do not go often. Sometimes there are pb guys there too. They have been polite and a bit curious. I let one shoot one of my guns a little. A visit to a "gun range" is totally viable in my opinion for us airgunners (I have pb guns too but rarely shoot them).

If you're a good shot, you can shoot until you run out of mosquitoes.

We shoot pellets on metallic sihouettes, out to 160 meters, often it's quite windy. Great fun.

My friend shoots a Diana 48 .177, while I shoot some .22 PCPs.

We are lucky that our club range is largely unoccupied, and that allows us to shoot for 6 - 7-1/2 hours per day.

The orange plate (11"x14") is 160 meters in the wind, but what's impressive is Tom Cooper:

We shoot pellets on metallic sihouettes, out to 160 meters, often it's quite windy. Great fun.

My friend shoots a Diana 48 .177, while I shoot some .22 PCPs.

We are lucky that our club range is largely unoccupied, and that allows us to shoot for 6 - 7-1/2 hours per day.

The orange plate (11"x14") is 160 meters in the wind, but what's impressive is Tom Cooper:

Unfortunately range rules are only paper targets.
I wish we had places like that .

That's called stress shooting did some yesterday 102 °F.

Kal's 160 M, 14" diameter silhouette. Very windy, but once the windage was figured out, hits were routine until the wind shifted again.

I admit that shooting such distances has little real world use, unless a herd of ferrel balloons threatens to overrun the range.
