I want to know how or why that nut of the fitting is so chewed up and where the rest of the fitting is at?

I've seen barbed fittings used with high pressure air and hydraulics, the difference being a steel crimped sleeve over the braid and tube, which is apparently missing from this assembly.

The link you posted shows a braided fill whip with FOSTER connections at BOTH ends. Where dose a hose clamp & barbed fitting come into the picture? Did you alter the hose shown in link? I'm not understanding the whole story here.

Had one similar blow out under the braid. Wasn't near it, but still probably jumped 2 ft off the ground. Upgraded to several linked GX hoses over time.

No, that is obviously an M10 fitting that screws into the compressor.
Note the threads on one end and the barbs on the other.
I would love to see a Foster like that.

The crimp (they called a clamp) is missing, but that's how they look after that event. Looks about right for mainland chinesium crimp qc.

Those braided hoses seem mighty crappy. The one I have is very inflexible. My fill hoses are from Airtanks Plus, and while pricey, they are clearly printed as to specs. I believe the burst pressure is something like 27,000 psi

Again, thank you for bringing this to the attention of the masses on AGN. Sometimes it takes something like this to make others think twice about going down the same road.

Yeah, it left at (i assume) high speed to somewhere outside the immediate vicinity. Not on the porch or the patio that I could find.

The barbs on that fitting don't seem very aggressive so, if it did have a sleeve on it it probably wasn't crimped tight enough; defects occur even on American made stuff!

No doubt, but i had 2, one still in bag new. Both are in the recycle bin.
Not going to find out it is endemic to those hoses.

Found the clamp. All in one piece. Obviously not pinched sufficiently.

Some years ago, a member of another group was badly cut on the arm by a burst hose, fortunately not too badly.
