Novice scope person

Believe it or not, some of those scopes that come with Gamos are pretty reliable. I've got a few if you're interested. PM me if you want. and I've got lots of others.
Thanks so much for that rapid and helpful reply. I would be totally interested in purchasing something you have and recommend. Would be interested to know if what you recommend would work with the Beeman rings and mount I have.
Thanks again for being so helpful

Leapers did not honor their warranty on a Bug Buster I had on my Prod. They won't be getting more business from me.

A Hawke Vantage 2-7 replaced it and has been great. I prefer Athlon, however. The cheapest suitable one I saw in a quick look was a Talos 4-16 SFP for $220. The Neos line is less but doesn't have parallax adjustment which I think is important. Not all Hawke's have that either.

Similar experience with Leapers failing to honor their warranty. Kind of burned a bridge over that one since mine was defective right out of the box and Leapers strung me along until the vendor’s return period had closed before going dark.

I do like the Athlon Neos line. I have been using a 4-12x40 on an HW95. Their rifle scopes and one rimfire model have side parallax focus down to 10yds. Mine is fairly stiff turning, but otherwise completely operable.

I would only consider a scope that has a reputation for easy warranty exchanges, that being Athlon Vortex Arken Hawke. As noted above some of the cheaper options will try and squirm out of warranty work when their bottom of the barrel scopes fail, or maybe the company is not around when you need it.

PA has a Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 with Adjustable Objective on sale for $199.99 and it looks like you can use coupons on it when they roll around again. You can probably get about 11-12% off of that on their next email. Or they have several cheaper models you can consider as well in the Vantage seriers. The Athlon Talos line is also pretty decent and used to go on sale regularly, or look for something used on ebay.

As noted by @Tumblinginflight you want something that can focus parallax down to 10yds or closer for air rifle distances.
