I hadn't considered the Montgomery Ward angle. I guess that they didn't sell nearly as many of those as they did the K-Mart and other stores did. That makes them kind of rare.

They look like model 64 Winchesters. I guess the Savage 99 as well. Great looking rifles. I’ve never seen one before

Does Montgomery Ward variant have the same model 99 designation or is it a different model entirely? I will have to take out my 99 and show it some respect at the range.

It was sold as a Montgomery Ward 1415A. The fit and finish on the Montgomery Ward Model is better. The forearm is different, has a gold trigger and heavier pellet feed spring.
