Macavity Arms My new Macavity Arms MA2

Ive been seeing a lot of budget PCP guys being able to shoot these 10 gr Knock outs well, one of the inspirations here is @PumaCarl results and praise from his Hatsan Vectis. The other reason I wanted to give this rifle a go and give .177 another chance is because of the advertised 150 shots per fill at current reg pressure with 9 grainers and the 3 magazines. This thing is gunna make relaxing shooting easy, as long as it shoots :D

Anyways , I know these rifles get a bad rep for their stock, I happen to know someone is working on a sporter style stock for these , when they will be ready? I don't know, nor do I truly care haha. With the recent PA code, this thing came in at under $400.00 with 3 magazines, AR furniture, and a "suppressor".

I don't see the bipod mounting picatinny rail being an issue for me with the type of shooting I do. If it is I will look to the terminador airtube clamp mount, and actually run it with the chinese accu tac wannabe legs (have a buddy who uses them and loves them honestly).

I am going to mount my Midas Tac Gen 2 5-30 on this thing.

I was going to order a barrel $200+ change and then I thought I'd be able to get the birthday code and then try the $25 discount code on my catalog.. since I was extremely tired when the birthday code didn't work I said forget it, if I decide I have to have it I'll try the $25 off code later.

Peri needs a bath and i wanted this thing zerod so I could get to testing this weekend.

Its windy, it's colder, it's pouring, but whatever, these are tools so I went out and zerod it and ran a chronie string.

The reg is consistent, the Midas tac 2 has these amazing metal notched caps so I could use them to keep the rain off my glass.

The reg gauge says just under 1000 so im guessing 950 to 975 psi, box says it should be set at 1160.

Would explain slow speeds. However it is zerod (and only took 2 shots to do) and at 25 yards I put the remaining 11 on top of the 2nd shot

Shooting a brand new gun In a nor'easter, !

Those 10.03gr K.O.'s fly like lasers at 965fps. What do you think of the shot cycle? I love working the lever on this gun, so smooth. That's a really nice scope, shouldn't have any problems watching your shots!

Its smooth like butter , I actually love it, the front pic attachment is flimsy as hell but with everything else so far I can deal. The 177 is quiet as hell, only mechanical noise, that may change at higher speeds, I may crank the reg to 1250 , get closer to that 965 mark you mentioned. I think theyre moving way too slow now to be any kind of accurate at distance.

Definitely, get them up to 965 and pop a Starling, you will certainly hear that! Even at high speeds .177 are pretty quiet compared to everything else out there. I have actually missed and gotten a second shot a couple of times and I am only running a Tanto in .25 caliber size.

I just went back a year and read my MA2 post and on that gun, which is a .22, I ended up setting the reg at 2000psi and I can shoot from 3600psi (920fps) down to 1500psi ( 875fps). I had found where the speed jumped up 20fps coming off the reg, just enough to extend the accuracy out. I usually don't bother but I wanted the extra plinking shots. These guns are ported really well, playing with the reg settings is the most productive way to go. I don't know what settings you will need but I would try to do the same thing but center your efforts to a velocity you want to be at and work your settings around that, not trying to make a low pressure achieve goals that it just can't, and there would be no working off the other side of the knee doing that either, so you'd get less shots because you could only use the regulated front end, the back would drop out. I believe you know this already so I'll stop rambling now, enjoy the gun, it's sublime.

After reading this and looking at the advertised stats of the .22 which comes factory set at 1600 psi and shooting 18.13 at 870 fps or there abouts , I think I am going to bring this rifle to 1400 psi from the 950-975 are its in now to bring those 10.3s up to speed, I will make the change tonight and get slinging lead tomorrow mid day. I am super excited.

It can't hurt to try, you have to start somewhere. The factory interviews at gunshows said that they basically tune for the popular standard in each caliber, for pellets, for an optimal shot count. I didn't find their tune to be optimal for me, at all. Shooting slugs, from a choked barrel, for performance, I would throw all of their data out the window. Have fun figuring it out.!

Your comment on which speed the MK3 likes is spot on with the SF calculator just a heads up, these things have a crazy SF rating for such a light round out of a 17.7 twist barrel.

Either way , I will figure it out, its easy enough to degas the thing and doesn't take much air to fill it back up lol

I agree with what one of the members already mentioned. I have a krait l .177, reg is set at 86b pushing 10.03gr mk3 ko slugs at 960 and 13gr slugs at 850fps out of a 520mm barrel but the gun has a 60cc plenum, you'll definitely need around 110-120b to reach those speeds. I'm surprised the reg on that macavity works that low, that's like 65b

The barrel on the MA2 standard is only 460MM too, at 975 psi it was still very consistent, I was shocked. 110 - 120 bar seems to be about right 1600-1750 ish
