What did you do airgun related today.

Today I am deep diving into a new scope. 750 is the budget . I am actually looking at 5-6 but you know.

I need a new scope for Hunter Piston to top my TX 200. I have an Aztec Emerald 5.5-25X56 that is easily the best scope I have ever had. It is is on my HFT-500. It does not have a light up reticle and I have a few targets that are in the dark. I also need a new removable side wheel.
I’m looking at this Hawke Sidewinder 30 FFP 6-24x56, Illuminated MOA Reticle, 30mm Tube.

Wow, it's almost midnight, I worked a double shift today on this 22xx project. Action block is 80% complete, just need to machine a pellet probe for it. Magazine fits good and aligned with barrel. Cut down an Kral NP-03 barrel, reduce O.D. on ends to 7/16", cut carbon fiber tube to tension barrel and mock up set up. Lots Java consumed today, lol.

wow!!! super nice. Wish I had the machine skillz
I spent the last couple of days sorting out my Brocock Pathfinder for EFT.
I switched scopes from my S-Tac to my Athlon Ares BTR Gen3 2.5-15x50 for the reticle and precision clicking / turret adjustments. My Pathfinder has a Derrick Wall tune so it shoots pretty sweet. I was hoping that the a Strelock Pro dope chart would be solid out to 60 yards but after 31 yards things weren’t holding so I had to take actual shots from 30 yards out. Data is solid now so it’s ready for Textreme EFT 6 June 🤩 @zx10wall see you there?

Good choice… John

I sat outside in the garden, shooting the .177 Mrod seated, off my elbows from my rickety excuse for a picnic bench. I had some tangerines that were going south on me, so I grabbed a few on my way out. I've satisfied myself that I can hit anything I can actually see out to almost 50 yards using an aperture sight on my Mrod. From 10 yards to 48 yards (by my laser rangefinder) the gun requires no adjustment in elevation or windage knobs. I do have to subtly shift the location of the target relative to the front blade - closer shots typically sit on top of the front blade, while longer shots need the tip of the front blade to rest on top of the spot you want to hit. Cracking good fun and I was amazed that I could hit this tangerine at 48 yards, so I tried a second shot... My eyes aren't as bad as I've been leading myself to believe.

Back to tuning the Prod for the 50th time this year haha. Well more like experimenting with it. I took my lightweight hammer out and put the factory one back in. I’m getting better results with heavier oem hammer. Easier to cock and better trigger to.

First string after putting it back in. I should be able to tighten numbers up some. Was getting about 21-22 shots on reg at 18fpe w/ lw hammer. Now I’m easily hitting 26 shots on reg with a little higher fpe.

Decided to do functional test on this 22XX build, glad I did because I did not have the right end cap for a 2250 tube. Ended up making a spacer so the CO2 cart would seal against the valve. This is just a mock up to test it, still working on folding stock a air striper for the shroud. Goal is 28" OAL w/ moderator, 18" folded or no stock and 15" with mod removed. It's at 24 3/8" as is.

Today I made timer stands for the field target course. It is a short metal sign post mounted upside down so the metal plate is at the top. I then made some minor modifications to the timer.. the poles will be permanently mounted at each lane and the timer is magnetic. So I just put them up for a competition.

Made final revisions to the 22xx project, decided to turn down the barrel to save weight and much need expansion chamber for the shroud. Made shorty end cap and a labyrinth gas scape reduce sound wave. Finished the 1913 adapter and mounted the folding stock. Best folder I have tried, zero wiggle at all after I added 2 more screws to the hammer spring cap. Tomorrow I will finish the barrel band and do final assemble and testing.

.25 Mrod range time 0900-1100. 50yds. Testing new bench (excellent), new GS compressor, comparative groups (Exact King v Dead Center), minor tuning.

Just looking roughly at groups, starting with 3000psi, first magazine (8shots) is a little aggressive, 2nd & 3rd mags are tighter. 24rds uses 500psi. 3 more mags = another 500psi with last group about 1/4" below POA...below 1900psi, group size is OK but obvious drop in velocity...group center 1" low.

So, I get to try out the orange box GS compressor hooked up to the car battery. Under 2min from ~2000 to 3000. If I didn't think I needed a backup, I'd hammer-throw that manual pump into a dumpster!

The 25.39 challenge went to Dead Center...but only by a small margin. The Exact Kings still easily do sub-minute of squirrel.
