A much shorter first cold shot of the day from my Vet 2 550mm .22 @ 20yds with JSB 18gr @ 975fps. Gotta luv reliable consistent accuracy from great PCP's!I have a Vet 2 LR 700mm. Its tuned to shoot H&N .218 (25gr) right around 940fps. Yesterday I took a what I would consider a cold barrel shot ( gun was sitting for more than 24hrs without being shot) at a measured 75 yards. Had to take a HOSP and it got smacked right where I had aimed. Honestly not many other airguns have been so amazing in consistency and reliability with being so accurate. I love it!

Gotta agree with all that. They made "improvements" that the market was demanding.... Much of that market people who are/were so dead set on demanding unnecessary changes that they shortchanged themselves by not owning a first Gen.
I'm obviously biased, but I feel like I see quite a few second Gen Veterans in the classifieds.
First let me just say that I want a taipan so freaking bad. A vet 2 in .25 would be amazing…I have a Vet 2 LR 700mm. Its tuned to shoot H&N .218 (25gr) right around 940fps. Great shooting! And, yes, smart not to shoot that 5th shot...Found my mutant group to show what it’s capable of. Only x4 groups @ 48 yards. I only had 4 shots left in my 1st mag. 2nd mag had hades and to my surprise it shot them exactly the same. I probably would have messed up a 5 shot group anyway lol. Was just wet piece of cardboard laying on ground. Shot a hole then aimed at it.
Gun will literately stack em. Thats a pellet for reference sitting next to top group.

Man! I bought a tin of H&N .218 21gr slugs and and.....couldn't get the accuracy....bummer as they are more affordable than most other slugs! Mine really likes AVS 20gr .2183's, nice slugs but costly. Mine will shoot NSA 20gr .218's but not as accurately as the AVS doggonnit! That's fantastic!
Mine is tuned for slugs and unlike some folks who have struggled to find a slug that shoots well in their PCP, mine has been nothing short of phenomenal with H&N slugs. I don't take credit for it because it is tuned by Derrick Wall.

Cool! Thanks for that info! I have seen his listings but I need to ask him if he could swage certain diameter .22 slugs! The AVS slugs also move quicker than NSA or H&N thru mines barrel, maybe because they are made of pure lead.I get my slugs from a guy I found in the classifieds in this forum…. They look almost exactly like nsa cup base slugs. But he makes them any weight I want. They’re cheep too. Just got 400 30gr and 31gr slugs sent to my house for less than $40. He packages them like a psycho so the arrive pristine, no dents, shavings or bent lips on the cups….Id what’s so different about them but a 35gr Franco slug does 895 out of my gun but the H&N 34gr would only do 850… same diameter too.
Pretty sure he makes .22 slugs too. Maybe he can make a good slug for you.

I like slugs because i can take long shots without wind and gravity affecting them as much unlike pellets. I was able to get the H&N 25gr slugs for .07 cents a piece shipped. I stocked up so I have around 8400 in stock. Mine shoots 25.5gr Zan’s really well too but they cost more. So yea, I got lucky! And thanks I love the stock too!Man! Like you, I mainly use slugs for pesting ground squirrels if there is wind, I load up magazines with both pellets and slugs and use what's needed! When just target shooting at my range, it's 90% pellets. I also use JSB Monster 25gr pellets (almost slug like) for pesting. These non choked barrels are great for both slugs and pellets, fun stuff! From my experiences with the .22 Long and Standard, take a tune that you're comfortable with your Standard and add about 5 FPE for that same reg pressure in the Long. My .22 Long was shooting about 31 FPE at 100 bars reg pressure while my Standard .22 was shooting 27 FPE with the same reg pressure.A Question I'm really Interested in purchasing a .22 long those last taipan long are unchoke, how difficult would be to push 25gr slugs in the 960fps without stressing to much the gun ..??
My .22 Long 700mm is pushing 25 gr H&N slugs (.218 head size) at 940. Reg is set at 135bar. Same tune pushes the 25.5 grain Zan at 905fps average. Keep in mind slugs of same weight and headsize but from different manufacturers can vary in speed because of the surface area in contact with the barrel.A Question I'm really Interested in purchasing a .22 long those last taipan long are unchoke, how difficult would be to push 25gr slugs in the 960fps without stressing to much the gun ..??

Thank you..could you post a pic to see how it looks with the 700mm barrel .. I have a 700mm taipan barrel but I was going to use it in another thing.. but if it looks good I might then buy the .22 long .My .22 Long 700mm is pushing 25 gr H&N slugs (.218 head size) at 940.
