H&N slugs (.22) 38 and4 40gr 218 what's best speed, I have 700mm m4 with all slug components, tomorrow I will start testing. Any recommendations on fps
Good, I've seen people just go 920-940fps I don't know if I'm starting to high.960fps is a good start
Hn 40gr .218 slugs on my 700mm m4 I had it on had it at 170 bar shooting high speed 960-980 but drop it down to 150 bar and it's has better groups at 940-960fps...and liked better grouping on .218 38gr at 930-950fps.I use .217 40 grain in my m4 at a speed of 984 feet per second with sub moa results at 150 meter or 165 yards

I think 33grain is sufficient to do that, i have also a drs 700 pro and try 40 grain but i have only 8 shots per fill.i have a drs pro 700mm, i am only shooting the 30 and 33gr slugs, but they seem to do best above 950 in the heavy liner. I would guess longer and heavier slugs also benefit from the faster spin rate from higher speeds, to stabilize well at longer distances. i only have 90 yards right now, and usually get under an inch at that range...planning to mow a path out to 225 yards on the next hill over this weekend, should be interesting to see how these do - or if i need to move up to a 38 or 40gr to go that far...
I have tried .218 and .217 at different speeds but this is what the worked best for me, i have a 800mm tensioned barrel and tried more than 10 heavy liners in 1:16 and 1:18 twistrate.Hn 40gr .218 slugs on my 700mm m4 I had it on had it at 170 bar shooting high speed 960-980 but drop it down to 150 bar and it's has better groups at 940-960fps...and liked better grouping on .218 38gr at 930-950fps.
But still will keep doing tunes...
.217 at high speed didn't make good groups for me
I installed Huma hammer spring but makes to much power on low settings micro at 1-4 and makes a lot.
