The Amazing China airguns.

you mean we don't even make ivory soap in America anymore..
out country is in a disaster, hopefully we recover..

this is not intended to be political so please remove if there's any issues..

hopefully this is not the start of the same thing as we had in COVID.. like 2.0

if it ever happens again and mask's are required I'm in very deep trouble because most of my hearing is reading lips.. in spite of hearing aids.. I didn't have them before COVID and everything was mumbling.. now even with them I can only hear the phone if the blue tooth works.

Ivory Soap has been made in Columbia for years. It's been reformulated to replace the tallow with plant-based fats...and it no longer floats! What a world...whatta world...

I don't know about their current availability, but I've had good luck with both H&N FTT's and Norma Domes and both are very reasonably priced. The H&N's seem to be more accurate in most of my rifles, but the Normas aren't bad pellets by any means. Last summer Pyramyd was selling the variety packs of Normas for $10. In .177 in bulk it worked out to about 0.6 cents per pellet.

If you get them from Pyramyd then every fourth tin is free. Combine that with whatever promotion they happen to be running and free shipping and you can usually get decent pellets in .177 for under $0.02 per shot and under $0.03 per shot in .22.

What's going on with the CPHP's is likely due to Crosman being bought out by Gamo. Rumor has it that the old CPHP's are being replaced with Gamo hollow points. Supposedly they're keeping the Crosman Premier name but the pellets are now made in Spain and appear to be identical to Gamo pellets.
i know quite a few people that do not know their are other brands of pellets . OR guns for that matter !

Being happy with what you have is the goal. Not where it is from.A lot of people do NOT have the funds to spend a lot of money on air guns, yet want to enjoy the sport.
Truthfully, some people can not read here. How many times have I read someone asking for advice on what airgun to get, and someone will tell them to get so and so airgun, and it is $1000 more than that person's budget? These people are not helping; they are bragging on what they have!!!!
Me,I like English made air guns,,I but used. Sorry ,sometimes I just plane what to have FUN

Must've been thirty some-odd years ago that I bought a Sportsman QB77 Chinese-made copy of the legendary 1960s vintage Croamsn 167 dual-cartridge Co2 rifle for $159 (brand new)-

My first 3 fifty-yard, three-shot groups measured .30", .40" and .50" center-to-center. She's since undergone many stages of evolution, including-

AR Nats trophy.JPG

Capturing a Field Target National Champion title after conversion to regulated high-pressure-air bottle and swapping to a heavier stock.

QB certificate.jpg

Winning a Field Target competition with high match score against a field that included two other National Champions, after changing to a custom stock and shorter HPA bottle.

Close-up of it before (now) switching back to a longer bottle for use in my TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette competitions (Slug Class).

Upon discovering she LOVES 16 grain H&N slugs at 868 FPS/26.8 FPE, I've mostly shot her at 100 yards in fascination that a .177 air rifle can average 1 MOA five-shot groups at 100. As excerpted from my testing notes-

8/6/24- Nine consecutive five-shot groups @ 100 yards with 16 gr H&N slugs averaged 1.04” center-to-center (1 MOA)!

FWIW, I've been pleasantly surprised by several Chinese airguns, and sorely disappointed with others. Some have almost unbelievable potentials (as above); others' best potentials are realized when employed as trot-line weights.

I’ve said this before, the Chinese are quite capable of producing good quality products. Some days they simply don’t. I have a Gauntlet and a Gauntlet 2. The 2 has shot well as long as I’ve had it. The other one leaked air and it took another $100 to find some sharp metal edges that simply hadn’t been properly finished. Works perfectly now.

One word , HUBEN, I am sure we gave the plans to china, I know China did not develop the GKl , Took me a LONG time to buy a Huben just because of the made in China , I also have two Notos I am playing with, In the motor world its said its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow...
Its pretty hard to make a Taipan, Uragan, Kilibrgun , RTI shoot better,,, But there is lots of room to play around with the Notos ,. Cheap, Light weight and loads of after market stuff to blow your money on... I had a leak on one of my Notos took me a month to find it and put it back together,,, NO panic , Just a cheap 250 dollar gun,,, I learned a lot, Back to the Hubens now, I have a GKl shorty , Not even sure what I paid for it close to 1,800 bucks I think.
But there is nothing , I will repeat that NOTHING that comes close to this fine pistol!!! NOTHING...

Huben is a company that seems to defy the stereotypes. Not only are the K1 and GK1 extremely good, so are the Huben moderators and the Huben hand pumps. Their hand pump weighs less than half of any other pump on the market and pumps up to 5000 psi.

Not to bash Chinese products but...

Huben is made in Taiwan...

There is a world of difference between the innovative and high quality stuff made in Taiwan and what would be the PRC. Many hight quality components come out of Taiwan....not to mention their semi conductors
I’ve been super happy with the Taiwan pistols. Charles

I have a Diana Airbug, made in China, and have no problems with the quality. Considering their politics and military aggressiveness especially around some of the islands in the South China Sea, around the Philippines, and Tiawain I do my best not to purchase any products made there. I realize it is impossile to avoid everything from there but I do try to find alternatives. Just my way of boycotting them.

Do you have any sources for this? I'm thrilled to hear it, since I'd rather not see what has been a fantastic manufacturer disappear from the US, but everything I've read for the past couple of years has indicated that they were based in China.

do you know of any close to the crossman pellets, I mean shoot reasonable good for plinking and well hopefully around the $6 tin of 500.. probably those days are over..
I also lament not being able to just go to town and buy locally..I don't know why, I might be stupid but I usually prefer buying local.. I've been known to actually pay a little bit more, especially my great Napa guy to buy locally and give him business than to go half a hour and save actually thinking about it quite a bit of money.. but his help in finding and getting the right parts the first time couldn't be replaced by cheaper prices and multiple trys at o Riley's..

I'm thinking, the crossman pellets I bought cases of at Walmart say made in America .. now I heard Gamo bought out crossman.. I'm guessing that they did something penny counters do..oh we can save a little bit and have them made elsewhere.. maybe it will be a different brand or labeled the same except for where it was made.. so I'm guessing they shut down the American facility..
now considering the terrifs.. that was the dumbest stupidest move they ever could have dreamed up.. they are not even listed on Walmart website anymore.. my guess is that the terrifs but them and they are holding off on all orders, just hoping deals will be made, which I'm sure they will..
none of this post is meant political but I hope the terrifs but them just for closing down another American plant and jobs just to save pennies.. hopefully while I'm at it I don't get in trouble, but I have farmed for years.. yes all my tractors are Green..Trump told JD not to shut down the Iowa plant and do not move the production just to Mexico.. well not only did JD mess with the farmers, no right to repair your tractor that they won't but they took Trump's word to heart and laid off lots of people and moved production to Mexico..Trump warned them not to or JD would face 200% terrifs and I hope they did.. although I'm a JD only guy..

note I didn't mean and don't mean to be political and I'm sorry if anything I said was out of line.. moderator feel free to edit or delete anything that is not ok.. and I'm sorry if I said anything to offend anyone.

Look for Benjamin single die pellets. I've seen those for sale at some of the Cabelas/Sportsmans Warehouse type big box stores. They seem to be excellent.
