Gauntlet SL30 Barrel Replacement

I’m in need of a replacement barrel for my Gauntlet SL30. Had everything set up ready to polish the barrel to get rid of a few slight rough spots. Then made a grave error and didn’t double check the grit of paper I had used. Instead of 3500 I grabbed 2500. While polishing I thought “wow this is super fast”….. then it hit me. I unwrapped the paper and saw the grit and about threw up. I cleaned it, put some polishing paste on a few mops and got it smooth but there’s barely any rifleing left. Both pellets and slugs go off in every direction. I was shooting almost same hole groups at 50 yards and now it’s ‘can it hit a 8” target at all’. I put another 50-60 pellets through it trying to get some lead in it but no improvement.

I called Umarex and they do not have any replacement barrels available and have no plans to order more.
Anyone know where I could I get a barrel to replace this one?

I have several factory barrels. They are new, I took them off of new Gauntlets when I rebarreled the competition guns for the UX shooting team.

What I don't get is HOW 2500 can do that ..? I lap & polish quite a few barrels & with much more coarse material then that. Is it diamond impregnated paper or something.?

Same thought I had. My guess is it has less to do with 2500 vs 3500 grit and more to do with the procedure used.

The “How” I don’t know. But I do know what was used. The rifling in this barrel is so shallow. I had a few places that caught/stopped the pellet when pushing one through manually. Most of the barrel the pellet made no contact at all and just slid. I can tell you 100% that the steel used on this barrel is way softer than any other barrel I have, which is fine. Just need to treat it that way.

No diamond polish or grit was used. It’s a soft steel barrel. That’s all I can think of.

Well I’m sad to say that I’ve exhausted all efforts on my end to get this barrel after paying for it last month on the 27th with the promise to be shipped the following day. Thammer went ghost after multiple promises to ship it out. Hope everything is okay with him, but I need to get what I paid for. I’ve been reasonable, patient and understanding. Unfortunately that has not helped at all. I need to do what’s best for me. Getting my $$ back.

Not sure if this helps but fairly recently Mr. Hammer posted the following:

sounds exhausting. I hope he's ok.

Everything i've heard and my communications with Mr. Hammer in the recent past have all be excellent. Hope perhaps this helps a bit.

Not to hijack this, but @thammer - could you check and respond to my messages to you on the 3 Groove 16:1 twist Huben barrel you were working on for me? We are ~12 weeks down this path and I'd like to know the plan to get it done and also get the factory barrel back. I hope you are doing better. All the info is in the same message thread that should be in your inbox here . . .
