My first match report using this EVO.
I drove the 2.5 hours down to Phoenix and entered a slug division called the FullMonty/FM at the Ultimate Field Target/UFT match at PRGC. Sight in and dope check went okay except I was hitting .2 mil low at 100Y?? At 100Y it was shooting really tight, one group was around an inch off bucket and sticks. If we shoot the FM there is a mandatory FPE check, in which, whatever projectile one uses must be under 50 fpe. For whatever reason my first shot after the EVO has sat for a while(this time about 20 minutes) always ends up higher velocity, which I declared beforehand to the RO, so it went 1st/848 fps, 2nd/811, 3rd/812. The last two shots were almost 48 fpe so I passed. Up here where I live the last time I Chrono'd it was at 829 fps average. I changed the velocity in my app which corrected the dope .2 mil at 100Y so I was GTG.
I'm not sure how to resolve the higher first shot issue?? That being said going from lane to lane there's not enough time gone by that it's not an issue because it doesn't change much.
Also I found out last week that all the air leaks out of the gun over night.

Fault #1 and #2.
With the EVO I was able to hit a fair amount of the smaller targets and calling my misses most of the time. This gun is easier to shoot well and you can read earlier in my thread here the other attributes I like about this gun. I feel it'll be a real achiever for the FM once I get all the down sides sorted out.
So nice using a repeater in the FM.
So nice having such a light trigger.
So nice it's a heavy gun.
So nice I can cock it from the left side and BTW I'm right handed and I like being able to hold the gun by the grip.
Also the ergo's fit me well.
And I really really like that the yellow light on the grip shows I haven't cycled the bolt yet and the red light shows that I had! This is a great feature.
Plus it's so nice having super crisp IQ in the March Genesis.
That being said I need one more magazine, so 3 altogether, that way I can use fully loaded mags for all 72 shots.
I did well until 3/4's the way through the match, then disaster struck, causing me to miss 4 easier targets in a row. I began thinking to myself what could have happened and it dawned on me to check the barrel latching mechanism at the rear of the gun. !!Sure enough the barrel had come loose and the tension holding the barrel was 3 clicks from full tight!!! I tightened it again but at the end of the next lane, near as I could figure, POI's were .2-.3 mils low, and the same amount right. Oh joy and some words came out of my mouth that I regret!!! So I tried to compensate the best I could for the remaining of the match but still missed a bunch. This was absolutely frustrating!!!!!!!!!!
Fault #3.
I don't know what the names of the parts that hold the rear of the barrel are??but on the left side of the EVO is the round knob/locking collar, that when pushed down tightens around the barrel, and on the right side there is a pivoting latchet that can be depressed to loosen the left side. I don't know whether the latchet was depressed accidentally by putting the gun back in the case or if I inadvertently hit it with my left hand when holding the gun to change the mag to another but I suspect the latter.
Most of you know that my main gripe with AG's is the many "non solid, less solid, and absolutely silly ways" the manufacturers have come up with to hold a barrel. Well this is one more.

During the match I was partnered with Tom Coston of AAA and looking at his thick match barrel and knowing how it's attached, I thought to myself, yeah he's got this aspect right for sure!
I think I can resolve this latchet issue by drilling and tapping the latchet on the right side of the EVO then installing a grub screw to tension it thus making it practically impossible for this stupid debacle to happen again.
