What do you use as a stage timer.

I use a Sper Talking Timer. $30 on Amazon, I use it for practice and matches. I use to attach it to the scope with velcro but I have since made a bracket so it sits near my parallax knob. Some guys attach it to their hat, but I like to have it on the gun so it's easier to start when the stage starts The battery cover is finicky, I would throw some tape on it as soon as you get it. According to Amazon, I bought my current one exactly a year ago yesterday. It's lasted through 20+ matches, I think I'll throw a new one in my cart just in case.

For just practicing, phone timer works fine.

I wrote an Android app that gives me a random delay to the start (enough time to put the timer down, grab my rifle, and get in position), a loud beep, then another loud beep for the stop. I can also have it give me a 60 second and 30 second warning.
That's awesome. I started to write an app for Garmin watches that would count down and give prompts at 60 seconds, 30 seconds and 10 seconds. But then my give-a-crap meter ran out and I put the project on hold. Maybe I'll go back to it this winter when I'm less busy.

A couple of years ago, the match director (Ronny) gave everyone a free countdown timer.
They work great.
Mime needs a battery:

I have a wife that will yell at me in 2 minutes, either her or my son will yell at me. Really cheap as they both only need some munchies and a liquid to keep them happy :D
Exactly. I just have to keep my phone on, and if my wife senses that I'm having fun for more than 90 seconds, she'll shoot me a text to pick up something from the store or do yard work.

This is an older post but I'll put in what I've used in the last 4 PRS matches, 3 or 4 NRL22 matches, and 2 NRL Hunters matches. I have been using a Champion Bluetooth earmuffs and connecting the earmuffs to my phone. I then use an app called Talking Timer. Under the app I can have the lady announce 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, and count down from 5 seconds. You can choose when you want the lady to speak. This setup has worked really well for me.
I have seen a majority of shooters use the kitchen timers and have seen a lot of them have problems.

If you really get into it, a purpose built timer will serve you better:

MDT Crush-It
SG Pulse Pro (announced at shot show)
Precision Match Timer (Apple watch)

I have the MDT, not used the others.
I have the precision match on my apple watch, its very nice. Can program to verbally give countdowns and alerts whenever you want. Just shake to start the timer. Very cool but $20.
