Regulator Bellville washer lubricant

I ordered a can of "corrosionx" based on Scott's suggestion. He has not steered me wrong yet.

The two times I've had a regulator apart so far I've just put a very thin film of silicone grease on the washers and the regulators work well. The Huma in my Caiman come with a huge amount of what appeared to be silicone grease on the washers and none on the o-ring below the adjustment screw. So it stopped working. So I ordered a rebuild kit and while I was waiting I took it apart and fixed these issues and it works great now. I have the kit for next time. O-rings should always get a little silicone grease I think but avoiding corrosion is probably the bigger need for the washers.

In there someplace among the 100's of Regulators Serviced/Rebuilt a constant in most cases has been ... if or when using MFG provided service kits, the unknown outside visual I.D. is ... WHAT IS the O-rings material ?
Between Buna/N and some Nitrile, others a Polyurethane, the Oils / Lubricants each specific material will tolerate or requires can become somewhat GREY :cautious:
The "ONLY" lubricant that is universally Inert for all the possibilities is "SILICONE" ... So after years of Doing, Trying, Re-Servicing & Discovery I've gone full circle to simply using HEAVY wt Silicone oil/s.
Indeed some lubes excel when & where you know the o-rings composition. Unknown is the real crux & when in doubt use Silicone.

JMO ...

NOW as OP asked .... BEVEL Lubrication, certainly NOT silicone as it as a metal on metal lubricant is Horrid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
