Ataman Ataman AP16 air leak

I have a two year old Ataman AP16 that I took out of the safe today to shoot and the air cylinder was empty. When I tried to fill it air was coming out as fast as it was going in. After a little messing around with it I figured out that if it was cocked it would hold air with no leaking, but decocked it would leak bad. Any ideas where to start?

The manufacture of them is going on five years old now. The rubber may be breaking down and loosing elasticity, and therefore needing a reseal of the whole gun.

Did you completely fill it, or just add a few hundred pounds to experiment with cocking and de-cocking? Once full it shouldn't leak by simply decocking.

It's been a while since I aired mine down. Seems like they need to be cocked to fill from empty, and dry-fired as you get sone oressure built up to seal the poppet.

Ok, so cocking it and then filling it and dry firing it once took care of the cylinder just dumping air, but now I found the original leak that cause the cylinder to lose all pressure to begin with. It is leaking between the frame and what I am guessing is part of the regulator where I drew the circle. Are both of those parts to the right of the leak the regulator?

Yes.

There is an exploded view here-

Its a Ptarmigan, for the most part they are not all that skiddish. Most Alaskans hunt them with a .22 or air rifle.
Ahh...... In Scandinavia we hunt grouse with shotguns, but also with small bore rifles in the winter time. They are very difficult to seek up and get on target.
