❓How much length would an NV rear clip-on add to my scope? — Scopemate + OneLeaf + Pard?

How much length would a night vision rear clip-on add to my scope❓

Specifically, I'm interested in the following three models:
● Scopemate NVS12 = ?
● OneLeaf NV100 = ?
● Pard 007S = ?

🟠 How do you deal with this massive rearward extension of your scope personally❓

▪ Do I have to move the scope permanently forward and I resign myself that gun X is only for night shooting?
▪ Or do I need to move the scope back and forth, possibly requiring a special mount (quick-detach or EagleVision back/forth-adjustable mount)?
▪ Or is it sufficiently comfortable to shoot a bullpup rested — with the NV sticking way out backwards?
▪ Or....?

Thanks for enlightening me before I head out into the night in search for prey. 💀

it's nice to see you on the forum.. I sent you some emails and I tried pm messaging you here but I don't know if it went through, or you didn't want to communicate with me.. sure was nice talking to you especially since you live in Peru and it's another country that I likely will not be able to visit..
please let me know one way or another..
I was enjoying our conversation..
thank you
Mark

JS-on the pard NV007A it’s approx 5” forward movement of your scope if you want your cheek weld to land on the same spot. I’m going off of memory, when I mounted one on my scope that sits on my wildcat. It’s not just the length of the pard unit, but also the adapter that secures to your scopes eye piece that gives it that length. The NV007S thst came out a year and a half ago was designed to be shorter in length as pard relocated the battery to be installed vertically from the top(vs horizontally on the 007A) and the angled slope of the 007A gave it added length also, while the newer 007S is a straight 90* from control panel to eyepiece body.

Here’s what I suggest- if you have a sole, dedicated night only use gun, then yes, for sure move the scope forward to accommodate that 5” offset from the Pard. If you plan on having your gun mainly as a day use gun for target shooting and it’ll do “occasional” night time duties, do not move your scope forward. It also depends on the gun. On my wildcat, with the scope left alone and the pard installed, it moved my head back far enough that my cheek still catches the last bit of cheek rest at the rear, so for occasional use I’m ok with that. Not a big deal. What was a big deal to me was when I moved the scope forward initially to accommodate for the pard, during the day with the pard unit off I found the now forward head placement uncomfortable, and I found my self moving my head forward to rear and back forward like how a pigeon does, as now I kept getting the black shadow ring while looking thru the scope. Not good, so I reinstalled the scope back to its original spot.

Just food for thought. Love my pard unit. Very light, easily removes and installs quickly with a positive click, and does what I need it to do for night time skunks around my place perfectly. Make sure if you do get one, to spend the extra $$ and get the eagle vision adapter kit thst comes with a case to store your pard. You will need the 18650 batteries with the flat top positive end, and a micro SD card if you want to record

Did you ever wind up getting a RTI? If you did, here’s what I do with my RTI when the sun goes down and it’s time to snap the Pard on. My scope is mounted as far forward that’s comfortable because day shooting is my main thing. When I decide to do some night shooting I just bolt one of those 3D printed butt hooks on. It increases the LOP just enough that I’m not miserable. They are cheap and a little cheesy but work like a charm.

Friends, 😊

it's been a while, but the PARD 007S did finally land in Peru. 🤩

I blindly thought "It will WOOOORK — don't worry!"
But the field of view is rather narrow at the lowest magnification.
I had to bring out my scope with the widest FoV, Helos 2-12x42.
With the 4x optical magnification of the PARD, times the 2x magni of the Helos, I end up with a minimum magnification of 8x.....
Not so ideal for close range ratting.

I would have thought that PARD would finally offer a wider FoV after so many iterations of the same NV rear clip-on unit....

However, for the footage it will be great to have such a large magni — I just really have to practice target acquisition!!

🔶️ I appreciate all your mounting suggestions — noted them down.

I will probably use this NV unit on a "day gun" — so I will mount the NV without changing the scope position.
And I will shoot the rig rested on a tripod or some structure, so putting my eye into a weird "non-cheek weld place" should be OK. 👍🏼

@JungleShooter I know it's not what you asked about, but I thought this may interest you. Have you seen this new Pard from clip on NV unit (Pard FD1/FD1 LRF? I know nothing about it other than what's posted here.

It can also be used as a stand-alone digital scope.

Yupp, I saw it! 😃
And have drooled over it! 😃

Knowing the price of similar units (even when applying the China-price reduction) — tells me to wait a little bit.
Because I'm just starting out on my NV journey, just give me little more time to fall down a little deeper into this particular rabbit hole.... 🤦🏻‍♂️

Then, with little doubt, will I see "the light" (or whatever little light I will be able to see above from far below in the hole) — and I will willingly plunk down the money required for a front clip-on.... 🤦🏻‍♂️

Matthias 😆

PS:
I know this to be true, because it happened with guns, with scopes, with compressors, with range finders, with chronographs, even with ammo.
(Did I forget to mention any item?)

@JungleShooter I think waiting is prudent, especially with Pard units. They're producing so many new and improved units, there's no need to rush. See how they will be received unless you want to be a Beta tester or something. When I saw that one in particular I thought I might interest you due to your concerns about eye relief and FOV.
