paypal claiming air rifle is firearm

I was gonna say that Federal law prohibits air guns from being construed as firearms in any way. Even Facebook gets away with it. Just because they may be based outside the USA, they still have to obey our laws when doing business here.

What about the states that already classify them as firearms? How do they get away with it?

I'm not saying its good or I agree with it. Just playing devils advocate.

This discussion isn't new. As far I know paypal has considered airgun sales unacceptable for quite a while. If their rules use terminology that states that airguns are firearms... that's unfortunate but really no different than saying they won't cover claims on either or that they put them in the same category. They do get to make their own regulations on their services but I agree that they need to be clear.

That said, pp claims coverage has always seemed to be hit or miss for airguns. When this comes up there are usually a bunch of folks chiming in saying their claim was covered, even private party..

I tried on several occasions to work with seller. He was uncooperative, to say the least. He had placed ad on airgunnation. Filed claim with PayPal on June 25th got denial on July 28th. Sent several messages to PayPal trying to explain the improper classification. No response. Just sent text to seller today, telling him what a pos rifle he sold me. His response, rifle was only shot 50 times and brand new. Had rifle sent to Veradium for tuning. Brian said rifle was full of something similar to axle grease. Valve was screwd in crooked and ruined threads. Need new valve. Also need to replace stock, crack to bad to fix. Photos seller sent were either at angle or far enough away couldn’t see damage. This guy sold me a pos and refuses to admit to the fact. Going to take couple hundred dollars to fix. Some times you just get shafted when buying used. At least when Brian gets done I’ll have a decent rifle. He will take to 100 fpe and shoot slugs.

Mr Arizona PCP - thanks for filling in some more info. Sorry to hear that an AGN member did not treat you well, that sucks eggs for sure.

I searched all of AGN for the name Ryan Lindsay - in every nook and cranny. They only mention of that name is here in this thread. Could you please let us know the user name Ryan Lindsay uses on AGN? I don't want to start a mob to get the torches and pitchforks to go after him. His mis-deeds are between you and himself.

What I am asking for is his "USER NAME" - i.e. My drivers license does not have "JimNM" printed on it. Most people do not use their real life names on the internet.

Thanks, and I hope you can get your gun to 100% asap.

Reactions: Airgun Al
I bought a PCP rifle from pyramid air and it leaked so I had them send me another one and it leaked. So I told them I didn’t want another one like that but would pay more for a better model. The new model came and was great and still have it. But they never refunded me for The original purchase. After six weeks I had enough of their lies because they kept telling me I would get a refund within a few days. So I contacted PayPal and showed them proof of pyramid air receiving the air gun back to them .PayPal said that they couldn’t get any communication from them either. So PayPal told me that I would get a refund within three days. Two days later I got my money back Through PayPal. I think the person on here that said that they have to be a PayPal Hosted site is probably right.

I had that happen to me with a bad item from Overstock.com. Endless back and forth and refusal to return my money. Finally Paypal stepped in and I got my money back from the seller almost immediately. Occasionally you have to force someone's hand.

Ok so how can the owner and moderator of AGN could make this site a PayPal hosted site....?....so we could make our purchase with confidence...some times is not the seller to blame I'm seeing a a trend of the package appears to be delivered..but is nowhere to be found and I know is USPS fault..and ones it appears delivered I dont think something could be done..is your word against theirs..

Yea, thats why Paypal F&F is the way to do it. You could pay extra $ for the "more secure" transaction, which is worthless with airguns anyway. So, best thing to do is look at the member's feedback, Accuracy, and time on the forum before you buy. Then make sure you get the photos you want to see before you buy.

I do not blame Paypal at all!
When you use Paypals "Friend and Family", to make a purchase with a complete stanger, you are being deceitful.
Your basically stealing paypal's service, and as a result, Paypal makes no commision from their "Friends and Family" service....ZERO.

So then asking Paypal for help, when a situation goes sour, is absurd!

Not exactly that simple. Here in Minnesota, state code/law simply applied to firearms has also been applied to airguns.

I'd really like a link to this alleged federal law that prohibits airguns from being construed as firearms.

I have forgotten the title of the law, but there is a federal law that says a state? may not declare an airgun a firearm. I don't think it counts in contract law. But it could help take their teeth off your billfold. It will have to be researched by someone smarter than me to see if it still exists in a time of government rewriting history and laws. YMMV. Be Well, Bandito.

Paypal isn't based in the USA and basically everywhere in the World besides USA considers a high powered air rifle a firearm unfortunately. Not really surprising to me.
WOT???? PP is based in California, ok sorry, you did say USA so that does in-fact make it a foreign company./s
