Do I really need any more airguns....because i keep wanting to buy another & my wife's had enough??

I'm quite sure I am not alone in having an almost addictive need to purchase new, different air guns. Despite having a ridiculous collection, especially after factoring in all the scopes, ammo, targets, cases, slings, & upgrades/mods Ive done, etc., I STILL want MORE!! So my question is: do we really NEED more airguns; & if the answer is no, then follow up questions are why not & then why do you think we keep buying them, and if yes, why the need. Different hunting approaches, compactness for carrying, ammo size/cost, I mean I could go on & on? Hence my asking the greatest online forum of airgunners! Do we (or I) actually NEED more airguns? (Help me convince my wife, fellas!)

So, I have: Umarex.510cal Hammer, FX Wildcat MKIII .30cal, Hatsan Blitz .30cal, Hatsan Barrage .25cal, Hatsan Jet I .22cal & Jet II .25cal, Umarex Origin .22cal, Umarex HDR .50cal, two Umarex HDS68 double-barrel shotguns, Sig Sauer Virtus .22cal, Umarex HDX .68cal pump shotgun, Seneca .50cal Double Shot shotgun & .50cal Dragonclaw II, Umarex .50cal HDS pistol, Umarex Air Javelin & Air Saber air rifles, not to mention 7 BB guns/rifles.

So, ladies & gents- what's the verdict? When are enough air guns enough? Or are there ever "enough" airguns?? I have my eye on the Umarex Primal shotgun....

Need had nothing to do with it. What I have was from seeing something, it sparked an itch and I bought one to give a try. I have sold a few but have bought most of those back. Part of the deal made with all the buyers was if they changed their mind, no matter the reason, I'd buy the rifle back. Upset wives or girlfriends, not enough power, too much power, whatever.
I also have a girlfriend who enables my addiction and has even bought me a couple. Most definitely keeping her too :)

Listen to your wife. I probably have more airguns than I could ever use (my wife is *very* understanding), but at some point you should get really involved in shooting just one - to the point of excellence. That next rifle won't make you a top shooter - practice and tuning will. And your wife will probably be happy to see more pellets arriving, as that means you're using what you've got.

Of course you're going to need a better chronograph, maybe a clutch of moderators to try out, a cast-iron front rest instead of the plastic craptastic, a large CF bottle, a small CF bottle, an Alkin or a Bauer, a rifle rack, some tuning parts, a lathe, a mill, ...

Part of "needs" is just having the right tool for the task. Anything beyond that is "wants" and if you can afford those without disruptions to everyday life then go for them. If there's room in the gun safe/cabinet, there's room for at least one more. When you run out of room... It's time to sell something off or buy another safe and/or cabinet, preferably bigger than the last😁

Good point. When I think about it, my $150 single shot shot 12 GA gun, my $170 50 CAL muzzleloader and a $60 Daisy 880 is all I need to shoot and hunt all quarry and shoot targets in the USA except the great bears. That is because where I hunt, the distances are short. If hunting or shooting targets at long range than a 308 or 30-06 and you can get a $400 scoped rifle to do that. Man do I feel guilty.

🤔 looks like you could use some Springers and C02 guns - in your collection - another rabbit hole to go down with Airguns 🤯 lol


I would say a lot of us been in this place before- I have sold some guns in the past only to have buyers remorse. But sometimes it’s best to let some least used go to a better home, if it means you will be able to purchase a new gun your lusting over.

The unfortunate part is this hobby / life is addictive- be hard to fill that hole in your airgun heart , seems like after you get that gun you’ve wanted & you think should do, something pops up that you’ll want shortly after.

Like the duality of a Airgunner- to both good and evil inside a person. The desire to help ( don’t buy anymore Airguns for your wife’s sake ) and be selfless, and the desire to hurt and cause Chaos ( buy new gun and piss her off) every Airgunner is capable of both = The Duality of a Airgunner. lol 😂

Yes, you can have too many airguns. I have four I need to clean and move to a new home.

I used to have a rule that 3 was enough but now my max is what I have shot in the past six months and four of them remain in the safe, unmolested for more than 180 days.

Gotta go....

well i am about to buy my #4 airgun, but i also plan on later in the year selling at least 1 but probably 2 if i can.
Reasoning not being opposite gender pressure, but rather i have no one to inherit my rifles, so when i kick the bucket i am sure they will be disposed off as scrap iron.

So ! I see no reason to sink money into a too large collection, but maybe if i was not locked to the .177 caliber i would feel different, i know i would like bigger caliber, but just can not be bothered with the overly complicated and expensive procedure to be able to do that.

When things are " Cooking " it is usually just that #1 rifle i shoot, and ATM that is my Maverick as my Pellet gun the Vulcan 3 can not shoot long, and i am a sucker for long range.
The times i shoot 50 M or shorter is only 10 % or so of the time.
Okay the Vulcan 3 are not bad at long range, but it is not to the benchmark set by the Maverick, so i can not enjoy starching it out, that to some extend is probably also due to the overly complicated tuning of the Vulcan 3 with the internal regulator.

Planning on offloading the Vulcan 3 and my old FX Cyclone,,,,, and " real cheap " too just to get rid of them ( no overseas selling or even in country shipping, cash on handover only )

I think there's too many you can have now. I've seen the dark side and I have comeback to the light. I'm free from the addiction. I can't even count how many airguns that have gone through my hands since 2015 when i got into airgund. Sold all off about 2 years ago except a HW30S in .177 I have bought only 3 now. An Evol Mini .22 used after I sold it all, last year a Umarex Notos .22 and this week a used Uragan Compact .22. They cover all my needs. I do use mine for pesting on our dairy where others things can't really be used. The Notos will be a backup now after heavy use this past year and the Uragan will be taking its place as my barn gun.

I use the same theory as my wife with shoes. They go with the outfit. I have her convinced you can't shoot two things with same gun. The airgun God will not have mercy on you. I have a crow gun, then one for sparrows, tree rats. Also .morning and evening guns. You get the idea. Every gun has a purpose. Lol .
