Do I really need any more airguns....because i keep wanting to buy another & my wife's had enough??

I'm quite sure I am not alone in having an almost addictive need to purchase new, different air guns. Despite having a ridiculous collection, especially after factoring in all the scopes, ammo, targets, cases, slings, & upgrades/mods Ive done, etc., I STILL want MORE!! So my question is: do we really NEED more airguns; & if the answer is no, then follow up questions are why not & then why do you think we keep buying them, and if yes, why the need. Different hunting approaches, compactness for carrying, ammo size/cost, I mean I could go on & on? Hence my asking the greatest online forum of airgunners! Do we (or I) actually NEED more airguns? (Help me convince my wife, fellas!)

So, I have: Umarex.510cal Hammer, FX Wildcat MKIII .30cal, Hatsan Blitz .30cal, Hatsan Barrage .25cal, Hatsan Jet I .22cal & Jet II .25cal, Umarex Origin .22cal, Umarex HDR .50cal, two Umarex HDS68 double-barrel shotguns, Sig Sauer Virtus .22cal, Umarex HDX .68cal pump shotgun, Seneca .50cal Double Shot shotgun & .50cal Dragonclaw II, Umarex .50cal HDS pistol, Umarex Air Javelin & Air Saber air rifles, not to mention 7 BB guns/rifles.

So, ladies & gents- what's the verdict? When are enough air guns enough? Or are there ever "enough" airguns?? I have my eye on the Umarex Primal shotgun....

Another thing to remember, is a lot of these newer Chinese guns are just the same thing with a couple different features or a different breech, dropped in different stocks. Barra, beeman, crosman, they all use the same air tubes and parts for some of their newer offerings. JTS and DAR...

Do your research before you buy 2 of the same gun, just in a different outfit! Kind of like when Pontiac was still around. The chevy cavalier was the Pontiac sunfire, the cobalt and G5 etc.

I think a big problem for me is getting rid of the ones I do not use anymore,I just keep buying, got better ones then realized so many air guns shoot so close to each other they become redundant...maybe give each air gun a ladies name, after a while you forget their names, then you know it is time to quit buying,:ROFLMAO:
Absolutely!!

Just agree to sell a couple when you buy a couple. Then the collection doesn’t grow ?? There has to be a few of those you don’t hardly ever shoot ? You can always buy the guns again that you sell. Seems a good compromise to me. The hobby is addicting and at least it sounds like you are blessed with the means to support it. Sell 2 (to me cheap) buy 2

X plus 1 means you have unlimited space time and money so = sell off all your cheaper and duplicate platforms and get one multi purpose rig you can quickly change calibers and tune on the fly aka the ghost or alphawolf
But
You don’t get to buy it until you sell off all but two of the others

Keys
stuff / things / money etc.. doesn't create any lasting happiness - sharing them or creating meaningful experience(s) with them does.
Someone to love
Something to do
Something to look forward to
On the science side of this
The hunt and the purchase create dopamine which equals addictive process
two links with some factual info:

meanwhile, I highly recommend you get involved in a 12 step program. Steps 1-12 involve sending us all your airguns.

I understand the desire for "one more" or the "next one". I avoid too many as my means are limited, therefore I generally have 6 guns personally and enjoy them to different degrees. When something new appears, I usually will decide which of my existing posessions does not quite charm me as much as my others and cycle it out to bring in the new one. Now these were good guns, but, in the end, how many can I really shoot? I decided on 6 but that's me. 2 low power, 2 standard power, 2 High power. Depending on which catagory the new toy fits, that's the existing gun on the trade block. Let's me try all kinds of guns and keeps it from becoming overwhelming with product and space. Helping to alleviate issues with the spouse.

For me being “addicted“ to “buying” more of anything isn’t a good, particularly if its more items than you can reasonably use. I must confess to being “addicted“ to sending round’s down range. To that end I have thousands of pellets on hand. And also thousands of pistol and rifle catridges, and reloading sundries for my slingers…🇺🇸🙏

Do we NEED more airguns? Simple answer is NO. Why? Simple answer according to Webster dictionary Need: to be needful or NECESSARY. So ask yourself is it NECESSARY?? I have four airguns and if I was honest do I NEED them? Truthfully no :(. Maybe I could justify one but not four:oops:. There you go, the simple answer to a simple question that I'm sure some will make into a complicated one;). I like keeping things simple...

I would dump all the Hatsans and Umarexs and start over.

Listen to your wife, you have an abundance of airguns, so what? The entire collection isn’t worth an atom of your wife’s worth to you. Can’t say I haven’t been in the same boat with different endeavors. Simply, always side or sacrifice for, she you love mostest… Me? For airguns, a trinity, three guns for different purposes. Hard lesson learned from too many “unused” powder burners and bicycles…🙏 Good luck…
I don't know better. An endless cycle of longing due to some AGN poster, buying, euphoria on the delivery, fear of the consequences, yelling and slamming doors, and after some time forgiveness till another buy. Some airguns are just so cool that it is worth a wife's wrath to buy them. Please do not post pictures and tell how great your airguns are. Some of us have a serious problem. :)

I agree with the idea of selling off the low end guns and duplicates.
And then buy a RedWolf HP in .177 so you can shoot light pellets on low power with incredible accuracy, as well as slugs on high power with incredible accuracy out to and beyond 100 yards.
You will be blown away by the difference of a high end rifle compared to budget guns!
But then you will have to deal with needing multiple high end rifles which happened to me.
I absolutely do not need any more guns, but that GK1 pistol is quality and semi automatic with accuracy, so in a way I absolutely need one more gun.
It’s a sickness that we just have to live with I guess!
Edit: I confess that at some point I’m going to put my deposit down on a Thomas rifle and wait the three years to get it.
It just doesn’t stop lol!

This formula should help all you folks solve your dilemma. N = the number of airguns you have and ? Is the new sum. So here we go N+1= ? I hope I have brought a new perspective and some clarity to your problem and surely your wife will understand. If not, I know where there is a weather tight 30x20 two story barn. Maybe you can rent? Second floor only, the first floor - full. Be Well, Bandito.

I'm fairly sure a Daisy 880 and something like a PB chambered in 300 R.U.M. could cover 99.9999% of shooting "needs"... But there's an awfully big gap in performance between the two, not to mention ammo cost, safe shooting areas, ethics and ordinance/game laws 🤣

Part of "needs" is just having the right tool for the task. Anything beyond that is "wants" and if you can afford those without disruptions to everyday life then go for them. If there's room in the gun safe/cabinet, there's room for at least one more. When you run out of room... It's time to sell something off or buy another safe and/or cabinet, preferably bigger than the last 😁
