STOLEN AGT Vulcan 3 - Be on the lookout!

How long have you lived there?
I lived there for about a decade and now live about 40 miles south of Seattle. From what I have seen, all of the big cities on the west coast are currently in a rough state. The homeless and their encampments have simply overwhelmed significant parts of them. We had three murders and a machete fight within a quarter mile of my workplace last year and I've been subpoenaed as a witness to a murder that took place near my house last fall. The murders near my workplace were all encampment related and there were several encampments there. The murder near my house was apparently domestic violence.

Things really got out of hand during covid, but Tacoma has actually gotten much better in the past year. They started sweeping the encampments in earnest about a year ago and they have prevented most of them from reforming. I used to have to repair the fences around my workplace every month or so, but since the encampments have been cleared we haven't had our fences cut once. A lot of them have now spread out into neighborhoods where you never used to see them but on the whole I'd say their numbers here are down about 65%.

From what I understand, Seattle hasn't been nearly as aggressive in clearing the encampments out and when they do they usually re-form within weeks.

Another thing I haven't seen nearly as much of in the past year or two are used needles. It seems like the addicts have moved on to smoking fentanyl rather than injecting heroin.

At least you sort of live there.

I can only speak for Eugene, Salem and Portland.
I was in Portland over Thanksgiving, the GF and I walked to our airbnb from the downtown amtrack station. I saw significantly less homeless than in '18 and '19. But being a liberal state with non fatal weather, it's not all that hard to understand. You'd think it was all a continuous riot from back in 2020 all over the city, if you listen to some of the people who have never even been there. I saw the most homeless I've ever seen in Las Vegas in January. We fly from Eugene, it's the hub, so I'm there all the time, everything is going great. Some in Salem, by the river, but I saw just as many in Boise, although neither had very many.

Well anyway I hope the police do actually do something unlike what that one guy said. But hopefully you would say Seattle isn't done. The GF and I were planning on taking the train there this summer

It's like any other major American city, there are places where you can walk safely and places where you can't and the locals are usually very aware of them. I take my dog out for walks around the neighborhood daily and I don't usually feel the need to be armed while doing so as my local neighborhood is mostly safe and I'm sure there are plenty of neighborhoods in Portland and Seattle that are the same. Having said that however, things have obviously gotten much worse over the past decade.

First off hello, my name is Jeremiah I am the aforementioned internet friend who got got in beautiful third world nation of Seattle, lol... just kidding, obviously I'm only kidding Seattle is or was at least an amazing place at one point unfortunately its been quite overrun lately with all sorts of riff Raff but, I digress. Next I I want to say a huge thanks to Warren (the air shootist) it was beyond kind of him too make this post completely on his own I didn't ask him to do it or anything that's just the kind of guy he is just a genuine all around Good fellow. And to answer people's questions/follow up on your spectacular advice, I'm 100% definitely made a police report I was the first thing I did once I I would like to say the police were very helpful because I would like to think that I support them and their job and everything I'm a veteran so I understand a little bit about that world as well but this was definitely not my best experience with law enforcement I'm not going to go far in detail on that as I don't really believe in putting too much negativity out there but it was a not great to say the least, and for anyone that was wondering about Andrew had insurance cover item stored in a vehicle even at the vehicle like mine was locked and it was it was also in the trunk inside of a hard case that was locked as well and it had a trigger lock on it also I have two small children I would never leave a gun easily accessible but long story short after a very grueling conversation with my insurance rep that's a no go but at least they will cover the smashed window and any other damage done during the process so you know silver linings. And that's where you find people come into play I realize that the chances of recovery are slim but you never know weirder things have happened I sure would like to get it back and intact as this was by no means my first PCP air rifle but it was my one of my top five dream guns and the very first quality air rifle I usually build my own off of budget platforms and I worked very hard for a very long time to get the money to be able to do this as I said I have two small children so money for things like periphery aren't the number one priority for me but I saw this as a 100% worthwhile pursuit and investment unfortunately sometimes life has different plans. Definitely a disheartening thing to experience because they got not only the gun they got the new carbon fiber shroud that I made for it the amazing sarissa moderator & my yokozuna my brand new accu-tac S-R5(thanks Warren) it had the Talon Tunes heavy spring my discovery PRS 8-32 my very impressive monstrum hornet 6 to 24x50 in the monstrum balrog 0-120 moa adjustable scope mount and and perhaps one of the worst parts of this whole thing was that they got other gun that I was building for a family member which is a real shame because it was turning out great. Anyway, hopefully with a little luck and perhaps some help from you fine folks maybe I will see it again and if not that just means I get to have the fun of reacquiring a lot of the same stuff and perhaps some different stuff, either way it turns out I want to thank every one of you from the bottom of my heart that's one of the greatest things about the air gun community as a whole we always have each other's backs we like to joke around with each other and poke fun as it were but when it comes down to it everyone really seems to want to help and I truly appreciate that. you're all rockstars in my book!
Thanks again to all and a very special thank you to Warren!

Jeremiah
I live in Washington , couple hours south of ya. I'll keep my eyes peeled..

Don't give up Hope
I was a victim of a armed home robbery. The people who robbed me were targeting a person who lived previously at the home i was renting.
A bunch of my knives were stolen so i went on various forums to see if i could recover something by showing pictures of the stolen knives.
A fellow knifemaker happened to see one at a show, called the authorities and recovered the knife for me.
Didn't think there was a snowballs chance in hell to get anything back...but GOOD people do exist
I hope you can recover what was stolen
Mike

As I said before I try not to put too much negativity out there so I'll just say this I hope Seattle can be on the mend but as another user said the Como special about it pretty much says it all but like anything it has its ups and downs so Ill try to hold out Hope for Seattle's return but I'd say just play it safe and try to keep your trip to the nicer areas if you can.

I don't actually live in Seattle I live on an island up north of it called Anacortes I was down that way for the VA hospital and going to meet up with some family afterwards but I've been living in Washington now since 2016
My step dad's buddy was at the VA in Dallas for a while, about 3 years ago. He said it was in a rough neighborhood. Sounds like your VA may be similar. Thanks for the tips

Unfortunately, most auto insurance won't pay for items stored in the car. I found that out the hard way in San Diego when $3,000 worth of shooting gear was stolen from my trunk. The car was parked in my driveway next to the house, so my home insurance paid, and that has a $2,500 deductible. The insurance company did not require receipts, and almost all was bought used, so I claimed what the "new" replacement cost would be and made up the $2,500.
As long as your insurance agent knows all the details and is willing to let you claim new price on used items and no depreciation, great deal for you👍anytime I've had claims, they aren't so generous.

If not I would be careful, teetering on insurance fraud, at least in California.(550PC) I believe 🤷

Yeah, all the Insurance Agent did was ask for a list of items taken and their replacement value. Everything was also listed on the Police report.

This comment is in no way meant to be derogatory but rather a reminder - don’t leave anything in a car that you can’t afford to loose. Crime happens when opportunity presents. It takes mere seconds to clean a car out. Thieves even target church parking lots and when they see a lady walk inside the church with no purse …. Smash and grab… they’re gone in a split second. These situations suck all the way around but they are also reminders.

I don't know about there, but here, the police can check all the pawn databases and find the item if it was indeed pawned or sold there. Assuming they do their job.
