RAW Rapid Micro cool

Those are some good comparisons in the Micro Compact category! I came up with a few specs to compare them. While the lengths are all similar, the RAW micro is a bit shorter (because the barrel is 2'' shorter). I imagine some of the numbers below would be even closer if they all shared the same length barrel. But let's all agree that a good moderator is needed for anything with a short barrel 😜

Price$1,600$1,800$2,600

Air fill207 bar250 bar4500 psi
Energy*23 FPE*27 FPE*30 FPE
Shots*30*50*30
Warranty1 year3 year?

It's great to have so many options!

Another thing I like about all 3 of these is their simplicity (though admittedly I've never torn down a Pathfinder). Gotta love an airgun that's easy to work on and only has a few o-rings!

Will AF/RAW sell only the stock so anyone with a RAW can create their own version of the Micro, much like the chassis version?
Or has something else changed besides the stock, barrel length and bottle size so a previous RAW HM, TM or BM action & regulator isn't compatible?
So….shrouds on raws aren’t possible without either a cuttout for the bottle, or a custom contoured tube. Because of the distance between the bottle and the barrel.

The micro appears to have some type of full barrel shroud. And I’ll venture out on a limb and say that’s the reason for the new smaller bottle.

I’m guessing the action is the same…hm1000, I believe it not the X version

The chassis for the hm1000 is available…and I’m guessing the reg is the same across the board

This appears to be a short barrel and small steel bottle on a hm1000 chassis.

After thinking about it, the Micro would be perfect with a LW choked barrel in .20 caliber.

I'd probably use a slightly longer barrel, SSG and Home made moderator. It maybe a tad longer, but would likely get 75 shots per fill ........ and be a great, (light weight) back yard sniper.

I haven’t heard to many complaints about the evol noise level. Stock? Have you?

Having owned an Evol Mini (and now a Paradigm) I can assure you that any airgun putting out 20+ FPE with such a short barrel is LOUD without a good moderator.
Imo…this is a pretty big factor to all these “compact” guns.

This micro hunter property setup with length of pull and moderator is will closer to 37” than the 27” spec

My Micro compact is 27'' with the butt stock fully extended. I no longer own the other two to measure them, but it's safe to say that they all require 3-5'' moderators to reduce their bark (because of the short barrels and power output). *This is just my opinion, as some people don't have any noise restrictions and don't use a moderator at all.

Let’s see some groups!

I think the new mini inserts are pretty impressive. Much better than the original inserts. I agree that they all need a good LDC though. Much more than a long barreled gun unless there pushing crazy power also

Some ”length“ numbers for the XRs with moderators attached.

Atomic XR: 30-1/4“ extended, 27-1/8” retracted

Pathfinder XR: 33-1/2” extended, 30-1/4” retracted, 22-1/4” folded

height: measured from bottom of trigger guard to top of the action. 4” for both guns.

I have the 30 cal. RAW Chassis and have been shooting it for a couple years now. That being said when the Micro Hunter came out for me it was a no brainer. absolute Tac Drivers. I've had the Micro 25. Cal. about a month and have taken 19 squirrels and 5 rabbits with it. It lives up to what I have come to expect from RAW. Price point is a little high, but you get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents.

I love my RAW's and their built quality/accuracy/trigger, the Micro sure looks cool, but seems to have pretty limited uses.

I suppose you could add a SSG and almost double OEM shot per fill.
I would really like to have one, but I'm not rich and can't see owning one - a somewhat impractical airgun for the $$$;).
I agree to a point but if set to low power it makes a great close range pest control gun for around farm buildings. The price tag is a bit hefty but for the cost of a new barrel and a bigger buddy bottle it’s easy to swap and change in a matter of minutes 👍

I have numerous barrels, bottles, stocks and spare regs set to different pressures, I change the configuration of my RAWs and rapids frequently.
