It's only classed inferior when you have another " better" choice on hand .. lolJust drained my pot of inferior generic coffee this morning and am still desperate for a good cup.
I grew up with Mom's Pyrex all-glass percolator boiling the hades out of Folgers on the stove. Never drank coffee until college.
My brother in law likes burned coffee since that’s how his father drank it.Just drained my pot of inferior generic coffee this morning and am still desperate for a good cup.

He will purposely let it get burned just so it "tastes right".
Which is crazy in my opinion since I’m a bit of a coffee snob and like a robust but not bitter brew.
I’ll add I drink whole bean decaf now.
It’s not as jittery has enough caffeine to help focus but not so much that the old ticker pounds away enough to spoil a shot.
Took me about a month to wean off caffeine before foot surgery in ‘19.
(Decaf makes me much less agro on the job which makes the subcontractors happy since now I only tear off an arm to get their attention and not beat them over the head with it.)
Now you need to take the next step and roast green coffee beans. When you drink coffee without any additives (sugar, cream, etc..) taste is very subjective. The water you use makes a difference and the freshness and level of roast is huge. I started buying my beans from a local roaster and it made a huge difference in my coffee experience.
The roaster I use roasts to my specifications. That's what I love about buying from him. I just call him up and tell him what I want. We change it up from time to time, but he always nails it. He imports all of his coffee from one region in Ecuador and offers different washes and processes to suit your taste. We've had a great time sampling different ones and figuring out our favorite flavors. Now you need to take the next step and roast green coffee beans.
You’ll really like how you can get light medium and dark roast by timing the roasting and temps.
I enjoy a hint of cinnamon in my morning pot and add that as it steeps in the French press.
My coffee purveyor got run out of town when starbucks moved in . All of a sudden there was all kinds of laws like 3 SS sinks for 3 different jobs and 3 washrooms , this was a place that sold coffee beans and had a pot brewing . no seating , no room . found out later one of the board of health was a heavy investor .The roaster I use roasts to my specifications. I love cinnamon mixed in with my grind sometimes. It's a great taste.
That's terrible. It's probably safer if I don't go into my thoughts on stuff like that. I've never had a good cup of Starbucks coffee. I stay away from it if I can.My coffee purveyor got run out of town when starbucks moved in . Well that’s really cool. Custom roasting is rare around here. The roaster I use roasts to my specifications. That's what I love about buying from him. I just call him up and tell him what I want. Sumatra. was /is my favorite . unable to find in the wilds of KY .Well that’s really cool. Custom roasting is rare around here.
I was working near a warehouse, one lunchtime I wandered around and smelled coffee roasting .
A guy was roasting for a big local coffee chain using a commercial roaster. Their coffee was always too overdone and bitter for my tastes. (Which he agreed was true and admitted he was "just doin’ my job." Lol)
After he heard I liked to roast my own he bagged up a couple pounds each of green bean pure Kona and Sumatra. Bonus!
I do feel fortunate. This guy even hosts "roast days" where you learn about the different roasts and then roast your own with his equipment. We haven't done it yet, but I hear it's pretty popular.Well that’s really cool. Custom roasting is rare around here.
