FX .25 fx maverick sniper

Question. I’m ordering the maverick from spaw and they will tune to JSB 33.95. My question is I will also be shooting light slugs as I do not want the slug liner at this time. Will having the slug power kit installed be of any benefit? They will be adding a custom hammer , I will have clarify on the weight, but I’m assuming it will be around fx medium weight hammer.
Thanks

I shoot the jsb KO mk2 33.49gr slugs out of standard 600mm liner in my crown and its amazingly good at around 950fps. So im not going to invest in heavy liner yet. I also have 1000 zan 35gr slugs that wont group at all with the setup i have so I Will try to sell them or eventualy buy a heavy liner Just to shoot them up.

50m target with a 11x scope and not 100% stable BR

Not a Maverick but an FX Superior barrel in my M3.
My 34 grain JSB pellets shooting at 916 fps and my 26 grain RMR slugs shooting at 988 on the same settings sight in and about 2 scope clicks apart.
I can shoot the pellets another 15 fps faster with the same accuracy but my slug groups open up. For me it was being lucky enough to find that sweet spot.
I was hoping that just a couple clicks on the macro wheel would do it, but lucked into not even having to do that. Stock hammer too.

So then My question is when they do the initial tune for the jsb 33.95 do I ask them to do that tune so it’s on the 1 on the wheel so I can turn the power up for the slugs?
It doesn't always work that way. You can get pretty close though. It depends on how laser accurate you want each to be. My wheel can stay the same because the slug is lighter and therefore I get more FPS at that pressure. I didn't think it would work out that well but it did.
Macro on 11, Micro on 4. Valve at 9.7 mm. I tuned for the pellets. I started with that but turned the macro down to 8 and all the way up to 13, at 13 the poi really opened up. At 11 it was tight, just a little left of my poi for pellets. Pure luck that it works out that way in this instance. I was unable to do the same with my Maverick, or with various other slugs in my M3.

This will be my first venture into the PCP realm so I figured I’d swing for the fences lol.

SPAW has a good reputation I’ll just tell them what I’m looking for and leave it to them. Thanks for the advise guys. They kinda offer a military discount, they covered the 90.00 shipping.

But I will not add the power slug kit or custom hammer. I just added the long arca rail, carbon fiber sleeve and the yokozuna moderator.

I’m sure I’ll be back with questions.

Short answer is, no. The only thing I did to my .25 VP is a slug probe for more air through the pellet port, i.e. less restriction. I shoot both 33.95 and 26gr FX/RMR (Rocky Mountain Reloading) with the same tack driving accuracy at 125 yards. If they tune it right you'll be fine.

Spaw tuned my. .30 cal Maverick he had the reg at 140 getting 38 shots at 81fpe l now have the reg at 120 getting 72 shots at 86fpe
Thats funny because mine was supposed to be 160/120 to shoot the FX 25.4 at 910, according to the spaw sheet(Maverick .22). It was shooting more like 990+. So to the OP, your probably going to have to tune it anyway. I just ordered a new rear gauge and will tune this weekend.

Well it is a complimentary tune. So I guess it just gets you in the ballpark. They charge 250.00 for a slug tune. So im not expecting a miracle tune for free…
YouTube has some great tuning vids. The m3 isn’t hard to tune at all. 68 whiskey had a really good one where he tunes a mk2 for a friend. It is an older version gun but the concept is exactly the same. Really good video

Have you considered anything else, or you’re dead set on the Maverick?

If it requires tuning on your end, it’s a very trial and error process. It can be learned and done, it you could have a lot more tuning time than shooting time.

Do you have an air source solidified?
I tuned my M3 in about 10-15 minutes, and it's my first and only M3. Just follow the steps, shouldn't take more than a magazine, maybe part of a second. For pellets of course.

For now I will just get a 4500psi compressor from Walmart online since they have the 2 year warranty for like 25 bucks. The sniper comes with the 530cc bottle. That’s a lot of shots per fill. So that’s the setup in the interim.
cheap compressor from Walmart, the warranty and go from there.

I have a shooting range right down the street I’m sure I’ll enjoy the process of dialing it in. Having access to knowledgeable resources here will be of great benefit I’m sure.

I’ve looked at many different pcp rifles, the maverick fit the budget and I love the way it looks and all the different accessories for it.

I considered buying used but the price is so close. Makes zero sense to not buy new.
