Maverick w standard liner and light slugs

I was looking for a thread about what works with the Maverick and the standard liner. I have tried the .22 cal nsa 17.5g and the 20.2g . I've had some decent groups but not very constant in accuracy or SD. It's mostly my fault for thinking the nsa .217 would fit like the FX .217 hybrids diameter. There are a bit loose in the chamber or liner lead and gave me large swings in fps.

Then FX 22g hybrids give me acceptable accuracy and better SD than with the NSAs .

Im shooting a Maverick vp w 600mm barrel and 11g hammer with 110 bar on the 2nd reg. It's hitting around 930 fps and just over 42 fpe . I will probably just leave the Maverick set for the FX .22g slugs and order another 100 rounds.

The group is about the size of a dime. From 50 yards. Feel free to post pic's or share information

I'm sure you'll get positive recommendations for just about every combination, but I've had good luck with the 26gr Javelin gen 2s in .217 in my 600mm Maverick with the STX liner. Second reg is at 120, shooting about 955 fps. I haven't shot it past ~30 yds, but it does well enough for the backyard critters. The slugs expand very well in the grays and occasional bunny.

Zan slugs claim to work well with a lower velocity . I could probably still push 25g or so with enough velocity to work.

But it seems most are using NSAs. Did you guys try the FX Hybrids or just pass.

I might have to give the Javelins a try . It's nice to know what diameter works well . Thanks

This was a string from trying to tune for 17.5 NSA slugs . The SD wasn't very constant, maybe towards the end was better . Probably because of loose fit with the NSA 217 size and from me adjusting the HS . Pretty mild tune to push them over 950 fps ..

I will definitely will try the .2175 or .218 NSAs next time.

The FX Hybreds. 22g looked better. The last 9 shots were close to the sweet spot, and I backed off the HS by 1/8 turn . Called it good.

FYI FX Slugs are made by RMR Rocky Mountain Reloading, save a few bucks. I buy them 1,000 at a wack. Small detail, they are filthy, I wash them off in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner with Isopropyl alcohol then wipe them in a microfiber towel with bees wax furniture polish. Oh, there is some flashing inside the HP that a pointed q-tip will knock off, can't tell if it does any good, need to test that.

Since I did this, I've tightened it up by 25%, SD 8.7 and Spread of 33 FPS Avg. Speed 913.
