Maverick thingy majigy got loose

Was shooting and this thing came loose and start a moving backwards. I just finger tighten forward against the frame

Is this good? What’s it for? Do I need secure it further?

That houses a spring that keeps tension in the cocking rod while the action is closed so it doesn’t pop open when you shoot. Not enough spring pressure and the arm might swing open during a shot. Too much, and it might not close properly.
