I know all you .177 Chris Kyle’s will talk about shot placement .. That being said , it’s not always about the perfect shot..
sometimes it’s about removing the vermin at all cost and your window is short timed.. That my friends is when you depend on wound Chanel opening. The only way to open them up is big wide holes with big wide pellets.. The .25 in 30+ ft lb guns does this really well

This was taken with a very fast placed offhand shot at 25 yards ,as it was a matter of need to remove before the situation was gone..
I can always depend on my 32 ft lb Firefox break barrel to do its job.
The entrance was perfectly .25 or bigger and his lungs were blowing out the exit .. quick disposal of vermin with out having to hit the eyeball out of a fly .. There are no .177 guns that have this ability as they will shoot through with minimal wound Chanel and ,they WILL run away and die , potentially in your attic or somewhere else bad.. it’s why there is no replacement for displacement..

as Chris Stapleton says , THATS THE DIFFERENCE!

Looks like a very nice rifle. That'll do it for sure.

I hit a grey one not too long ago. Quick shot, up close. Was testing ammo, and adjusting my dope. I had to guestimate my POI, but knew I was well within margin of error. But took a center mass shot for this reason. 50fpe in .22 cal with an expanding projectile. I've never seen a kill quite like that. Round did not pass thru, and the squirrel expired immediatly on impact. It looked, acted, and responded like a small explosion went off inside of it. Even sounded like it.

Put enough energy on target; it'll expire. And quickly, too.

NH has black squirrels now too. I never saw them before 15 years ago, but they are here now. They breed with the greys too and the result is brown squirrels which look really good. We had a pretty big diverse population going before our squirrel apocalypse a year or two ago and they are only starting to come back now. Nice shooting by the way! Your gun is beautiful!

Jim Chapman wrote an article on his blog about a squirrel grandslam listing 3 different species plus a black phase of one of them. Said he does it every year, which I guess would be easy for him. Traveling around the world hunting and writing about it, calling it "work" 😁

I'm in the wrong business...........

That is a gorgeous stock!
Is it real wood or a wrap?
I shoot .22 and .177, love them both. But been thinking a lot lately about a .30cal… 🤔

Nice shot and beautiful gun! For what its worth though Chris Kyle was aiming center mass and using "fast" moving, big boolits too. It's easier for sure. The lil .177s are just a bit more fun.
I have no beef with .177. I just know my own capabilities.. 👁 ball shots or 👂 take them down ,then they get”squirelly” ..quite the 30 second show.
