Wanted to test the expansion at practical hunting distances in my new Revere, and gosh darn it, I felt so silly because I didn't have a block of jello or a jug of water in sight.
So I shot a groundhog instead. Hope that counts...I know it's not as sexy as jello.
22 cal FX Atomics (Hades) 15.89gn. 30yd shot to the vitals, quartering-to a bit. 890fps/~28fpe (@ muzzle). Pellet fully penetrated and stopped right behind the hide on the opposite side. Starting head diameter as measured: 0.217", expanded diameter (max): 0.293
Pretty good in my book. I had seen where some of the water and jello shooters were reporting poor/no expansion. So I guess I won't use the Atomics/Hades on my jello hunting trips.
Oh, and no, the groundhog didn't make it.
