Hammer Spring pressure ?

Generally yes.

There are a couple of edge cases where it does not:
  1. With a regulated PCP, there comes a point where more hammer spring tension does not increase velocity, it’s just wasting air because the valve is being knocked open for so long that the pellet has already left the barrel.
  2. If the hammer strikes the valve stem so hard that it drives the stem flush to the back of the valve, the hammer will rebound. The result is less valve dwell—in other words it snaps closed sooner than it would have otherwise—and the velocity is diminished.

Thank you very much, With a lighter hammer spring ,if I understood what you said it will both effect the FPS and you will get less shots on an air fill correct ?

Here is a blog post I wrote explaining how to tune PCP's. Reading this will answer a lot of your questions.

It’s all about finding the balance between how hard the hammer hits the valve with a given pressure behind that valve. When you find that harmonious balance you will get very consistent velocities from shot to shot. This is the beauty of a regulated gun. The pressure the valve sees is consistent so the shooter can much more easily find this sweet spot between the valve and hammer spring. It is a lot of trial and error. Generally the reg pressure (the pressure the valve sees) and the hammer spring need to be increased together and decreased together with the tuner looking for those little sweet spots of harmony.
